7 TV Shows Coming in February to Help You Get Through The Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

Spring semester is never easy. The weather is dreadful, the days are short and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed about finding a job or internship to last you the summer. But don’t worry, in just a few short weeks the winter TV hiatus will be up, and we can all go back to pretending like none of our problems exist. Here are seven TV shows, either returning to TV or making their first appearance, to look out for:

Girls (Season 5), HBO

This wildly popular comedy/drama details the life of Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham), a writer in her mid-twenties and her three best friends as they deal with love, work and everything else Brooklyn has to offer. The series returns on Sunday, February 21 at 10 pm.

Broad City (Season 3), Comedy Central

“4 and 3 and 2 and 1, 1” If you haven’t watched this killer comedy, you need to catch up. Broad City is the story of young Abby Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, two friends with an incredible talent for getting themselves in oddly hilarious situations. These two may be the funniest people on TV right now, don’t miss the premiere on Wednesday, February 17 at 10 pm.

AMERICAN CRIME STORY: The People V. O.J. Simpson, FX

Ryan Murphy has finally created something to satiate us until the return of American Horror Story in October. This show will detail the historic People V. O.J. Simpson case that found the famous athlete acquitted in a brutal murder trial. We’ll see some of our AHS favorites (Ahem, Sarah Paulson) as well as some new faces, including Cuba Gooding Jr. and John Travolta. Check this one out on Tuesday, February 2 at 10 pm.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, TBS

Samantha Bee, a comedian known for her “news” reporting on the Daily Show with John Stewart has landed her own late night comedy talk show. Advertising for this one is in full swing, so you’ve probably caught a glimpse of some of the wacky stuff the show will consist of. You can see for yourself how you like this one on February 8, at midnight.

11/22/63, Hulu

Love history and mystery combined? It looks like this might be the show for you this spring. 11/22/63 is a nine part series directed by J.J. Abrams, based off the story by Stephen King. The science fiction rollercoaster will detail a teacher sent back in time to stop the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Streaming on Hulu as of February 15.

Love, Netflix

If you love Judd Apatow and Girls, then Love might be a show for you. This (cynical) relationship comedy might be just what we need a week after the Valentine’s Day chaos. The show will focus on a newly single man with a new love interest. Stream it on Netflix beginning February 19.

Fuller House, Netflix

Who doesn’t love a quality reboot? Your favorite afterschool show is getting the Hollywood treatment and this time it’s headed straight to Netflix. The full cast (all but the Olsen twins, and maybe Comet) will be returning to warm our hearts and our streaming devices Tanner style. Start streaming this one on February 26.

So there you have it! Keep trucking, spring TV will be here in no time at all!
