Singer, songwriter, and actress JoJo is back in action after a lenthy legal battle with her former record label. Not only did she release three new singles a few months back, but she also killed it at Pittsburgh’s own Light Up Night on November 20th!

In celebration of this, here are 4 reasons to be excited about her return:

1. Her single, “Leave (Get Out)” came out nearly 12 years ago and you probably still remember every single word.

JoJo was only 13 years old when this song was released, and most of us were even a little younger than that. We had not experienced our first real heartbreaks yet, but all of us belted out the lyrics like the love of our lives had just walked out on us. The song hit all of us in our preteen feels.

2. At 13 years old, she was the youngest solo artist to have a #1 single in the US

The song that gave JoJo her claim-to-fame was Leave (Get Out). At only 13 years old, she had a very powerful voice. Now 24 years old, her voice has only gotten better.

3. She has been off the radar for about 2.5 years

JoJo filed a lawsuit against her (now) former record label, citing “irreparable damages to her professional career”. The law in New York says that minors aren’t allowed to sign contracts that extend longer than 7 years. Because she was so young when she entered her contract, the contract should have expired in 2011. JoJo and her former label finally settled out of court in late 2013.

4. “Tringle”

After several years of no new music, JoJo announced over the summer that she was going to be releasing not one, not two, but THREE new singles on an EP called “III.” Since there were three singles released at the same time, she referred to it as a “tringle.”
