3 Easy Ways To Learn Another Language

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

People often want to learn a foreign language, but are unsure where to start or how to go about it. I myself took French in high school, but had a desire to refresh my memory and further my study of the language. In my own endeavors, I discovered some of the best ways to start learning a second language:

  1. Online: There are numerous websites that offer lessons in foreign languages and many of them are free! This is my preferred method as it is simple and can fit easily into my busy schedule, and many set up a daily plan for you to follow. Duolingo and LearnALanguage are both great websites that offer a multitude of languages!
  2. Rosetta Stone: I’m sure many of us have seen commercials for this popular company and wonder how well it actually works. It is actually a great program and a fantastic way to kick start your learning. The only downside is it is a little pricy, especially on a college student’s budget.
  3. Classes: This is a great way to integrate your wish to learn a new language into your schoolwork! Point Park offers classes in Arabic, French, and Spanish, and if you wish to learn a language we don’t offer you can take a class at other area schools. This is a great option if you learn better in a classroom setting and need someone pushing you to keep up with your studying.
