20 Ways Shark Week Affects You (As Told By GIFs)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

You watch in amazement for a whole week, learning about sharks. The history of sharks, gruesome shark attacks, and the science behind it all. Eventually it begins to take a toll on your well-being.

You begin to see the ocean differently

and know sharks are lurking everywhere.

You even begin to swim more cautiously.

You don’t feel safe anywhere

and you begin to think of insane shark attack scenarios.

You avoid open water, even when on a boat.

It becomes your most consuming fear

and your nightmares begin to look like this.

Scuba divers begin to become your heroes

and you think this is how they fight off sharks.

Slowly you believe you can too,

just like Mr. T.

Swimming in the ocean doesn’t seem so bad,

but then something touches your leg

You see a fin in the water

and swim as fast as you can to safety

Watching in horror as the rest of your friends face possible death,

since you barely made it out alive.

Even after all that has happened, you’re sad when Shark Week ends.

Until it sneaks up on you next year when you’fd least expecting it.

Here’s a few extra GIFs just because who doesn’t love sharks, cats, and pizza?
