Every girl sometimes struggles to find the right weather-appropriate shoes to wear with their winter outfits, especially because the snow and ice comes with horrible ways to trip and fall. Keeping in mind that traction is key when picking out a pair of shoes to put on in the winter mornings, we’ve compiled The 12 Days of Footwear- the perfect guide to refer to before stepping out of the dorm stylishly and safely this time of year!
Day 1- Combat boots: Pair these babies with a cute pair of tights and a casual dress with an army jacket to stay trendy while keeping your feet warm in the cold. Â
Day 2- Sparkly heels: Looking to step out in fashion? Don’t let the winter weather stop you from putting on your best pair of pumps and showing the club scene what you’re made of! Dress them up with your favorite black dress, or wear them with a cute pair of leggings and a nice shirt. Either way, make sure you insert some Dr. Sholls to lessen the inevitable foot pain.
Day 3- Timberland boots: These have been a huge trend recently, starting with Kylie & Kendall Jenner. With an oversized sweater or a pair of skinny jeans, these boots can make an outfit look very cute even when the sidewalk is a little snowy on your treacherous walk to class.
Day 4- Uggs: I know what you’re all thinking… #BASIC! But let’s face it; Uggs will always be comfortable, so feel free to wear them shamelessly while sipping your signature Starbucks holiday latté. Uggs are appropriate in any weather condition- just make sure they aren’t Fuggs (fake Uggs).
Day 5- Booties: Short boots ending at your ankle look cute with basically any outfit with the exception of yoga pants! The best way to wear these out is with a could’ve-been-casual outfit, giving it just enough sophistication to look dressed up. Wearing jeans and a basic V-neck? Spice it up with some cute booties, and you can never go wrong.
Day 6- Riding boots: Riding boots keep you comfortable, and as an added bonus, typically make your legs look longer! Pair them with leggings and a leather jacket and you’ll make the hallway your runway.

Day 7- Moccasins: So comfy and so cute, but don’t get confused! Some people tend to wear these with their everyday outfit, which is a big mistake. Moccasins are primarily for the comfy and relaxed outfit, like yoga pants and a cute sweatshirt. Avoid looking frumpy by not overdoing this look.
Day 8- Sneakers: Recently, a lot of girls are wearing the sneakers with a wedge. Those are a perfect combination of cute and comfortable, but feel free to experiment with other sneaker styles like Converses or Keds. Hollister actually started carrying them, and they look just right with a pair of skinny jeans and a fun hoodie.
Day 9- Wedges: Wedges, like booties, can be dressy or casual, but the difference with wedges is that you have to pick the perfect time to wear them, or else your feet may freeze. Unlike booties, they don’t cover your entire foot, so wear these when the wind chill isn’t so extreme.
Day 10- Flats: These are the perfect way to embrace your height and make your outfits pop. Steve Madden has some of the most stylish designs, which you should definitely check out if you like some glitter and flare!
Day 11- Sperrys: Originally known as the “boating shoe,” Sperrys are a great year-round shoe, and have swept the sorority and fraternity scene. Sperrys even have fur on the inside now, which make them similar to moccasins, but you can wear them in the snow thanks to their non-slip grip.
Day 12- Flip Flops: Now you might think this is crazy, but sometimes it’s socially acceptable! You wouldn’t wear them in 20-degree weather, but if your classes are fairly close and you want to let your feet get some air, try the fur-lined styles by Ugg.Â
