10 Disney Channel Halloween Movies ’90s Babies Binged Watch This Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

All the ’90s babies out there know what anyone means when they mention Disney Channel Original Movies. Not only do we become nostalgic, but we can’t help but love the thrill and excitement that came along with these original productions. There’s always a movie for every season, and this Halloween season, the classic Disney productions were definitely binge watched.

We have ten original Disney Channel Halloween Movies that will resonate some childhood memories. We aren’t the only ones who remember being scared!

1.     The 1993 production of Hocus Pocus starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najim.

All my Sanderson witch fans will be happy to know a Hocus Pocus 2 is in production. Let’s hope this one will be just as memorable.

2.     The 1997 Under Wraps featuring a mummy brought back to life by three friends.

Ok I know I’m not the only one who wouldn’t know whether to be excited or freaked out by this.

3.     1997’s Tower of Terror

If you don’t remember this movie, we know you remember the Disney World ride that took you through the Haunted Hotel shooting down more than seven floors. I know some of you have the ride photos as proof!

4.     The Halloweentown Series

The 1998 Halloweentown, the 2001 Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge and the 2004 Halloweentown High starring Debbie Reynolds and Kimberly J. Brown featured three siblings and their grandmother’s adventures on Halloween. Not only are these three films classics, they were every child’s fantasy of a fun Halloween night! I wanted my grandmother to be just like Aggie Cromwell.

It was a surprise to me and every other Halloweentown fan to see a change in cast members in the 2006 Return to Halloweentown, but it still was a job well done. I think we all found a common disliking to the Sinister Sisters.

5.     Let’s take a minute to recollect the 1999 film, Don’t Look Under the Bed.

This may be known as THE scariest Original Disney Channel movie and we can all attest to it; I know I wasn’t the only one who didn’t want to go to bed alone after seeing this.

6.     2000’s Mom’s Got a Date With a Vampire had all us kids with single moms on the lookout for any prospective vampire dates!

We didn’t have any cute Stephen’s from The Vampire Diaries or Edward’s from the Twilight Saga to ease our minds back then.

7.     2000’s  Phantom of the Megaplex

Who remembers going to the movies after seeing this and constantly looking over your shoulder or being a little spooked by the ticket booth attendant?

8.     The 2002 film The Scream Team had everyone screaming but not in fear.

We aren’t the only ones who remembers this funny film with ghosts we wish were our friends!

9.     In 2003 The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy was one of the funniest yet scariest movies.

I know I wouldn’t want my family moving into a haunted mansion even if I had my own room and bathroom. But let’s face it, who didn’t love those singing headstones!

10.  The 2005 production of Twitches and the 2007 sequel Twitches Too, based on the Twitches book series.

These movies follow two teen witches as they discover each other after being separated at birth save their families with their new found powers. Who didn’t love this twin witch duo? (Afterall, I know I wasn’t the only one happy to see the Sister, Sister reunion!)

Though the Halloween season has come to an end, we can still celebrate our childhood favorites. Be sure to catch these classics on ABCFamily or Disney XD. Also, tag us on Twitter or Instagram at HCPointPark to tell us your favorite Disney Channel Original Movie.
