I don’t know about you but my family’s homemade chocolate chip cookies will forever be my comfort food. Even the smell that wafts into my room is enough to make me smile. Every single celebration, birthday, or opportunity I get, I request these cookies. Luckily for me, I have memorized the recipe so I can make them anytime I please, even though they will never be as good as hers. Try this mouthwatering cookie recipe out for yourself and once you start you won’t stop.
This recipe yields 2 dozen cookies.
You will need a small bowl, mixing spoon, large bowl, electric mixer, a tablespoon, 9×13 baking sheet and a wire cooling rack.
Ingredients
2 ¼ cups of all purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of softened unsalted butter (2 sticks)
¾ cup of granulated sugar
¾ cup of brown sugar
1 teaspoons of vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups of semi-sweet Nestle chocolate chips (12-ounce package)
1/2 cup of any other optional add ins: walnuts, pecans, oats, peanut butter chips, flaked coconut, white chocolate chips
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 375 Fahrenheit.
2. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl.
3. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla with the electric mixer until creamy. If you do not have an electric mixer, you can use a hand held mixer or fork. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg.
4. Slowly add the dry ingredients in the small bowl into the wet ingredients in the large bowl.
5. Once fully incorporated, stir in the chocolate chips and any optional add-ins.
6. Scoop a tablespoon of the cookie dough out and place onto the baking sheet about 2 inches apart from each other and the edges.
7. Bake for 9-11 minutes. The edges should be slightly golden brown and the dough should be slightly gooey.
8. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before transferring the cookies onto a wire rack. Repeat with the rest of the dough.
9. Enjoy. Don’t eat them all at once …..
Try these out during this holiday season! Trust me, your friends and family will be asking you to make them everyday. Even Santa will be coming back for more!
