Tips on How to Up Your Recycling Game

Do you ever think about how much plastic we use a day that isn’t recycled properly? Over 90% of plastic isn’t being recycled and disposed of correctly. When we recycle, the plastic and other materials can be reused and turned into new materials and products. Here are some tips on how to recycle more efficiently!

  1. These are some items that CAN be recycled: plastic cups, bottles, containers, paper/paper cups, glass bottles and cardboard.
  1. These are some items that CAN’T be recycled: plastic bags, plastic wrap, film, flexible packaging and polystyrene foam.
  1. Make sure to keep all liquid and food out of recycling containers! This makes the process of recycling easier and cleaner.
  1. You can even recycle lightbulbs! LampTracker is a website that allows you to mail all your lightbulbs and lamps to be properly recycled.
  1. Purchasing reusable products such as water bottles, bags, containers, menstrual cups, dryer balls, beeswax wraps and utensils helps cut down on the extra amounts of plastic being used in our everyday lives!

I was able to gather these tips from a variety of sustainability websites and organizations that I encourage you to check out too!. Knowing more about recycling can help you make small changes to your daily life that can ultimately help the environment. It is important to take care of our Earth so that we can continue to live on such a beautiful planet!
