What’s With All the Hurricane Memes?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

In the past two weeks, we’ve watched two hurricanes rip across the Southeastern United States, leaving destruction and despair in their wake. People have been left without homes, animals are swimming to safety as the streets flood, and people across the country (and the world) have banded together to help. Amidst all this devastation, though, is an interesting trend: hurricane memes. If there’s one thing you can count on the internet for, it’s to make light of a serious situation and keep up morale one meme at a time. Here are a few of the weirdest hurricane memes I’ve come across. Leave it to the memers to make us laugh!

When we tried offering a sacrifice to the hurricane gods

Because Pepsi is known to solve any and all conflicts (at least, according to Kendall Jenner).

That moment when we tried to understand what the lady wanted

And tried to reason with her

Then, things got a bit violent

And the police had to advise against it

We tried giving her the royal frat treatment

When all else failed, we had to turn to the Avatar

And of course, we send our HC love to all those affected

Hi! I'm a senior at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in communication and nonfiction writing. This is my third year at Her Campus Pitt and my second year as the entertainment category editor! I'm also a chapter advisor this semester! I'm a pizza-loving cat mom with a chronic habit of napping from the Boston area. I enjoy spending time binge-watching netflix, snuggling, reading, writing, cooking, and hanging out with my friends. I'm looking forward to becoming increasingly involved with everything Her Campus over the remainder of the college career! Thanks for reading my articles and always feel free to contact me with feedback :)
