Oakland is warming up, and summer is right around the corner. If you don’t know what to do this summer, we have a bucket list of ideas so you can make it as fun as possible!

1. Build a campfire.

You don’t even have to go camping for this. Build a bonfire on the beach or a fire pit in your backyard.

2. Go to the beach.

3. Try something new.

Eat new food, visit a new place, whatever is “new” for you.

4. Conquer a fear.

A few summers back, I decided to go parasailing in Mexico even though I’m TERRIFIED of heights. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The best way to conquer a fear is to embrace it.

5. Spend as much time outside as you can.

Instead of being on your computer all day, grab a water bottle and some sunscreen and go outside. There are so many things to see and do.

6. Volunteer.

Rack up your volunteering hours this summer and get involved.

7. Take a road trip.

Grab some friends and a car and go! You’ll have the time of your life.

8. Check out a new restaurant/type of food.

There’s Thai food, Indian food, Chinese food, seafood, Middle Eastern food. Who doesn’t love food? Try it all this summer!

9. Go camping.

See number #1 for something to do while camping.

10. Find a new hobby.

Last summer, I decided to try blogging, and I loved it! You could try something like photography, journaling or baking.

11. Go fishing.

Combine fishing with #9 and #1 and you’ve got a great weekend getaway!

12. Read a book (or 20).

I have so many books I want to read, but classes always get in the way. Summer is the perfect time to catch up! If you don’t have books, go to a store like Half Price Books (but only bring $20 because you WILL spend $83 and your mom WILL yell at you).

13. See a drive-in movie

Bring some cozy blankets to cuddle up in and head to the nearest drive-in movie theatre.

14. Spend a day at the lake.

Again, don’t forget to wear sunscreen!

15. Have a picnic.

Food, friends, and sun – what’s not to love?!
