The 55th Annual Grammy Awards brought a lot of excitement and surprises to the audience and the viewers at home. Yes, the fashion was fantastic and out-of-this-world as usual, but that wasn’t the only thing talked about. The Grammy’s also brought some of the best and worst moments seen on television this year. Feuds heated up even further and the performances introduced amazing collaborations. Here are the top ten moments of the 2013 Grammy’s:

1.      Taylor Swift’s British Accent. Taylor Swift opened the show with an amazing performance of “We Are Never Getting Back Together” and surprised EVERYONE when she took a stab at her ex, Harry Styles, by singing in a British accent halfway through her song.

2.      Carrie Underwood’s Light-Up Dress. As Carrie Underwood sang “Blown Away” and, “Two Black Cadillacs”, her illuminated dress literally took center stage. Not only did she look like a real-life Barbie (Life Sized, anyone?!) but the stage lighting was incredible. It was new – something that no one has ever seen before.

3.      Katy Perry Introducing “Best New Artist.” It’s still unclear to me whether or not Perry took a stab at the entire Grammy voting process or if she was giving some “helpful advice.” All we know is that she spoke the words, “If you don’t win, don’t worry. I was never even nominated in this category and I have my own eyelash line.”

4.      Chris Brown/ Frank Ocean Feud Continues. Do these boys really need to be told to grow up? The tension between the two was incredibly apparent when Ocean went up to receive his awards and Brown was the only one who didn’t stand up while the entire audience gave Ocean a standing ovation.

5.      Rihanna’s Performance. We haven’t heard anything from RiRi in a while, and her performance of “Stay” was enough to let us all know that she is here to stay. This performance wasn’t over the top like they usually are, but it was still one of the highlights of the night. Enough said.

6.      JT’s Back! The explanation point is there to stay. Not only did Timberlake show off a new, slicked-backed hairstyle, he also made millions of fans all around the world swoon over him just like back in his NSYNC days. And nothing was cooler than seeing Jay-Z join Timberlake for a performance of “Suit and Tie.”

7.      Bruno Mars’ Showstopper. I never knew how I personally felt about Bruno Mars until his song “Locked out of Heaven” was released, so I was obviously excited when he jumped on stage for his performance. But then, I was just blown out of the water when Sting joined in too. To top that off, Rihanna joined the duo on stage for an amazing tribute to Bob Marley – something that will be remembered for years to come.

8.      Kelly Clarkson Humbles Everyone. Clarkson is a huge artist, makes millions, and has fans all around the world; but no one would ever guess that the pop and country star has a case of stage fright. She had everyone gushing over her without even realizing it. It’s always nice to know that a superstar can still be humbled.

9.      J.Lo’s Dress. Really, need I say more? It was very known that this year the Grammy’s would have a strict dress code to limit the amount of cleavage – and skin in general – to be shown. J. Lo used her wittiness to work around the code stating, “They said nothing about the legs! I thought I was being a good girl! A little shoulder and a little leg.”

10.  Ed Sheeran AND Elton John. Come on, who doesn’t love Ed Sheeran? His British accent and amazing singing talents could bring any girl to her knees. And a collaboration with Elton John?! The duet absolutely killed it onstage. Word of advice – please get this on your IPod immediately.

Hi, I'm Kate! Orginally from northern New Jersey, I'm currently a junior at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in public relations and writing. Writing has always been a passion of mine and writing for Her Campus really let's me engage in something I love to do. I am a huge sports fan, especially for the New York Giants, Yankees, and of course, the Panthers. I am way into fashion and writing about it. I am also obsessed with travelling and one of my goals is to travel around the world and different cities in the states in order to see as many different places I possibly can. So far I've been fortunate enough to immerse myself in the culture of London, Paris, Chicago, Los Angeles, and a tiny island off of South America, Curacao. I really believe that in order to be truly happy, you need to become who you are meant to be and stop being who you think everyone else wants you to be. I'll leave you off with one of my favorite quotes, "Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine." - Lord Byron
