Three Ways to Add Color to Fall Makeup

It’s officially October, and although we all love our brown/nude, matte, Kylie Jenner-inspired lipsticks, we can still throw some color on our faces here and there. You can still break out those matte shadows to pair with your fall outfits, but a pop of color in your makeup will make your outfit stand out even more.

Here’s how…

Look One

For look one, I blended a cool, gray toned shadow into my crease and outer corners of my eyes.  Then I ran mascara through my lashes-as always!! Here, I used Rimmel’s Super Curler Mascara in “extreme black.” For the pop of color, I swiped some of Rimmel’s The Only One lipstick in the shade “It’s a Keeper” on my lips.  This lipstick has enough pink in it to brighten up a fall look, yet still has a deep tone, which makes it a great fall color.  Plus, it has a perfume-like smell to it!   It’s not matte, but instead has a glossy, slightly-shimmery finish to it.

Look Two

For look two, I wanted a look that could be done quickly (hello, 8 am classes), but still stood out from typical fall neutrals.  This look is a great way to test out wearing color on your eyes, if that is not something that you normally do.

I swept matte brown eyeshadow into my crease, and continued blending it close to my brow bone, then added mascara.  For my eyeliner, I used black for my top lid, but then lined my bottom eyeline with Rimmel’s Colour Precise Eyeliner in “blue”. The liner does last all day, and it dried down to a matte blue after I applied it.  I liked that I did not have to use heavy pressure when putting it on. One swipe is all that it took.  The dash of color is understated, but it is a quick and easy way to incorporate color with a  fall look.   You could experiment with purple, green, or a copper-colored liner as well, for a perfect trick to bring attention to your eyes!

Look Three

My third way to bring some color into your fall makeup, is to take on the red lip.  But pick a bright red, instead of a traditional deep tone.

I reached for Rimmel’s The Only One lipstick in “Listen Up!”  It’s a red color, with a bit of a bright pink tinge to it.  I like that it slightly plays up the pink in it, but it is still a fall appropriate color.   I agree with Rimmel’s claims about the lipstick being moisturizing, however I think it has too much of a balmy consistency, so the lipstick slides around on your lips like crazy. Keeping it within the lines of your lips is difficult to do, I would definitely recommend that you apply a lip liner before putting on this lipstick.

I also tested out Juicy Couture’s “I Love Juicy Couture” perfume.  The key scents included in it are taffy apple and red currant, which are oh so fall appropriate!

Now throw a pop of color on your face and go get that Pumpkin Spice Latte!
