Halloween 2022 has officially drawn to a close, but that doesn’t mean we’re ready to stop talking about it just yet! This year brought about some particularly inventive and remarkable costumes. So, here’s a look at some of the most popular Halloween costumes from this year (and some TikToks of my favorite versions of them).

Individuals

Carrie: Stephen King’s superpowered teenager always dominates Halloween, and this year was no different. Many people put on her signature dress and tiara and applied a heavy amount of fake blood. The iconic horror star is always guaranteed to be a hit as a costume

Alice Chambers: The heroine of the recent release Don’t Worry Darling, Alice proved to be another scream queen guaranteed to wow on Halloween.

Maxine Minx: Yet another horror star, Maxine Minx of A24’s 2022 release X was another popular costume. Rocking her signature look of overalls and blue eyeshadow proved to be a show-stopping Halloween costume.

Vector: The villain of Despicable Me (and by far one of my personal favorite costumes of this Halloween), many people took creative liberties with Vector sporting his signature orange and square glasses in various ways.

Duos

Daphne & Velma: As the heroines of Scooby-Doo!, these two never fail to make a perfect costume (and provide the opportunity for adorable pictures).

Lighting McQueen & Mater: An adorable take on Cars, many bestie duos used this iconic duo as the inspiration for their Halloween costumes

Maddie & Cassie: This pair of “best friends” from Euphoria brought in a whole slew of costumes. Many fans went all out with the makeup, the acting and the costumes

Step Brothers: A costume guaranteed to generate a laugh, this costume–which usually included frizzy wigs was definitely a hit.

Top Gun: A very prominent couple’s costume this year, Top Gun served to be the perfect inspiration for a fun costume for a fun night.

SharkBoy and Lava Girl: Another popular duos costume of the year, this brightly colored pair served as an eye-catching costume, guaranteed to make your inner child smile.

Groups

American Girl Dolls: The American Girl Dolls proved to be an inspiration for many Halloween costumes. These adorable costumes, which paid homage to some of everyone’s favorite historical girls, were guaranteed to make everyone smile.

Strawberry Shortcake: Another homage to our childhood, Strawberry Shortcake and all of her friends proved to be incredible source material for some amazing Halloween costumes. Many groups were seen sporting the iconic colors of Strawberry, Blueberry Muffin, Lemon Meringue and more.

Powerpuff Girls: Another popular group costume from yet another childhood show was the Powerpuff Girls. Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles never let us down, and neither did these costumes!

Kiss, Marry, Kill: A genius idea for a trio costume, this combo proved to be the perfect amount of inventive and attractive.

Fairies: A fun theme and wonderful costume, a fairy theme proved to be customizable for groups and individuals alike, tailored to fit each and every person’s style.

Gatorade Bottles: One of the funniest concepts of the year, this costume featured various colored shirts with orange hats, or in some cases, full-body suits with orange swim caps.
