The 2000s Are In: Spring Style Predictions

I am notoriously a bit of a spring hater. As someone who lives in sweatpants, sweaters, and other layers, I often struggle to transition my outfits when spring arrives. However, this year I am trying to cultivate more joy in my wardrobe throughout all seasons and, hopefully, make spring a little more exciting for me! A key part of this is the fact that many things I believe are becoming trendy and/or will be trendy this spring already fit into my personal aesthetic. So, fingers crossed, for my own sake, that some of these spring fashion predictions come true!

Polka Dots

Polka dots have already started to pop up everywhere, and I definitely think we’re going to see the trend continue through the spring. Polka dots are a fun way to add variation to any outfit, from a simple sweatshirt and sweatpants with a polka dot headband to a polka dot going-out top or mini skirt. To me, polka dots have an inherent fun quality that is perfect for spring, evoking images of 2000s rom-com protagonists and their bright, expansive wardrobes.

Y2K Athleisure

I think Y2K athleisure is going to be huge this spring. I’m talking low-rise sweatpants, multilayered tank tops, pops of color everywhere, chunky sneakers, even capris. This kind of style offers a way to be both comfortable and fashionable. Additionally, Y2K athleisure is easy to add layers on and off while still keeping a cohesive outfit, an important feature of spring outfits for days when it starts cold but gets progressively warmer. So, start saying goodbye to matching sets and hello to the 2000s.

Pastel Color Combos

While pastels for spring aren’t exactly groundbreaking, I think we’re going to start seeing some more adventurous color combos this spring. Brown and dark red will be frequently paired with light yellows, baby pinks, and light blues. Light pink and light green are another color combo that will likely be on the rise. As has been a theme throughout this list, 2000s fashion is very much back on trend, and bright colors are a key part of that.

Overall, I’m hopeful that we’re in for a colorful spring, and I can’t wait to see what spring styles everyone has in store!
