Tapingo: The Late Student’s New Favorite App!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

“Tap-n-go?” “Ta-ping-go?”  It doesn’t matter how you pronounce it, it only matters that you know what it is.  If you’ve never heard of this god-sent of an app, I am about to introduce to you something that will single-handedly change your life.  This app revolves around food and efficiency, and who doesn’t love food at-the-ready?

I, like most of you, have seen large banners near Cup & Chaucer in the library, Common Grounds in Towers lobby, and other places advertising this app called Tapingo.  At first, I didn’t pay much attention to it, nor did I think I would ever actually download it (the only apps I really use are social media, sports center, and Tiny Wings).  One day last week, I was running late for an exam and didn’t have time to go get food or coffee (both of which I need in the morning to function properly), so I downloaded Tapingo.  My life changed that day.

Basically, Tapingo is an app to order your food ahead of time so you don’t have to wait in lines or wait for them to make it.  It works by searching your current locations and giving you a list of place around you that use Tapingo as an ordering service.  Not only does it have every Pitt food/coffee place, it also has places like Pizza Romano, Sorrento’s, Sushi Fuku, Campus Deli, and many more.  You can set up a credit card or your student ID to your account and you can pay right from your phone; or you can pay in person with cash.  It’s like the GrubHub equivalent for campus-owned places.  Once your order is in, there will be a time bar at the top of your screen so you can see how long it will be until your food is ready, which, in my experiences so far, is no more than 5-7 minutes after ordering.

You can order as you are running out the door (tap) and it will be ready for you when you get there so you can run to class (n-go).  Download this app today and I promise it will change your life.
