We asked for $5 donations at the door for Her Campus’s very first event, The Cultures Clothing Fashion Show. We were not sure how much money we would raise…
However, thanks to everyone who attended the amazing night and donated, She’s The First Raised enought money to sponsor their first student! Here’s a message from Becca Nock, the Pitt founder and president of ‘She’s The First.”
We’ll be posting all the letters we send and receive to our student for you to check back and see how YOUR small donation made a huge difference in the life of a young girl.

Last night we raised $353!!! A couple of weeks ago She’s the First*{Pitt} decided we wanted to sponsor a girl through the Selamta Family Project and their smallest sponsorship is $360. We put in the remainder $7 and are super excited to sponsor our first girl! Selamta helps orphaned children in Ethiopia by placing them in stable family homes (they have 11) run by Selamta-trained mothers. All of the children in the homes receive a stellar education at a private school and after-school tutoring.

Our $360 sponsorship includes: Continuous education at a rigorous K-12 private school, School supplies including uniform, backpack and notebooks, After-school tutoring programs, Sports and soccer registration fees, Summer enrichment programs, Small budget for birthday and holiday celebrations, and Small savings account for each child. We will receive letters and photographs from the child at least twice a year and a report card annually. Last night was amazing!!! Thanks so much for allowing She’s the First*{Pitt} to be involved in this fabulous event. We will definitely keep y’all updated on the sponsorship!
