Samuel Calhoun ‘17

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Graduation Year: 2017

Major: Economics

Relationship Status: Single

This week’s Campus Cutie is Sam Calhoun, a New Jersey and Pennsylvania native and recent Pitt transfer. Sam thankfully said yes to being this week’s Campus Cutie while I scrambled to find someone. Sam lets me bother him about classwork, me talk his ear off, and even let me write this article about him, so let me say, he’s a total catch!

Her Campus: What’s your favorite thing about Pitt so far?

Sam: I like the environment, pretty much everything about it, class size…people.

HC: Are you involved in any activities outside of class?

SC: Right now, no other than intramural basketball. I’m probably gonna join some clubs next year, once I take a look and, uhhh, see what kind of clubs there are.

HC: Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

SC: Hmmmm. Retired.

HC: Wait?! Won’t you be, like, 40?

SC: I’m trying to hit it off big real early and retire. Live somewhere, where it’s warm. Maybe have a second home in Costa Rica, definitely a place in Pittsburgh. I mean this is where I hope to be, not expect to be…because there’s a big difference between those two. I wanna be married and have a few kids, all that stuff.

HC: Describe yourself in three words.

SC: Uhh okay, I got it, I think. Caring, funny, and outgoing, but shy at the same time.

HC: What do you mean?

SC: Okay, so, like, when I’m in a situation with people that I know, I’m more outgoing. When I’m in a situation where I’m uncomfortable, I’m a bit shyer… I don’t know. I’m pretty bad at explaining things.

HC: What’s the last song you listened to?

SC: It’s tough cause like every morning when I shower, I listen to the radio.

HC: Okay, well how about what’s the last song you listened to on your iPod?

SC: “Homecoming” by Kanye West.

HC: What’s your favorite pick-up line?

SC: “Are you a parking ticket? Cause you’ve got fine written all over you.”

HC: What does your perfect date sound like?

SC: Oooooh, perfect date. It’s a bit unrealistic, but it would be perfect: it would definitely involve skydiving. There would be a picnic waiting for you when you land, but it would have to be after, because you can’t have a full stomach while you’re skydiving, you know?

HC: What’s your biggest turn off?

SC: Someone who smokes cigarettes.

HC: What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you?

SC: Ever in my entire life? Last year, I was at a party. This is when I had torn cartilage in my knee, but I hadn’t had surgery yet. I was at a party that was so far away from my dorm. I spilled beer all over my shorts; it looked like I peed my pants. I was heading home and 30 people were walking down to the party and totally saw me.

HC: What’s your Chipotle order?

SC: It differs… Alright, I’ll give you the more recent one. This is what I’ve started to transition to: Burrito bowl with chicken, brown rice, hot salsa, medium salsa, corn salsa, and then cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. Then, I get a bag of chips and dip it in the bowl. It’s like nachos.
