It’s pants off for Greek Life, and I’m not talking about what happens behind closed doors. The brothers of Phi Delta Theta, Kappa Sigma, and other members of Greek Life sponsored by RSA and SGA outreach committee organized a clothing drive to donate to Vietnam Veterans of America.
The event was held on March 23, 2012 in the quad. Fraternity members were seen rocking out to music with a very noticeable mound of clothing in the center. There were sweaters, shirts, pants, and more all in plastic bags. Stacy’s Mom played in the background.
So how many clothes were there? Over 1500. For every piece of clothing donated, the members involved received an hour of community service.
Last year RSA held a similar event and received over 10,000 pieces of clothing, many of them ripped or very worn. In an effort to provide the charity with more quality clothing, Greek Life only accepted wearable pieces.
HC Pitt’s own Vice President Claire Peltier even posed with a pair of jean shorts donated.
“It’s our first annual and we hope to continue for many years,” said Sophomore DJ Moore.
Look forward to more from Pitt’s Greek Life!
