My Favorite Thrift Stores In Pittsburgh

Let’s face it: thrift stores are amazing. I rarely buy modern clothing items anymore because I love perusing racks for unique, vintage pieces. Thrifting is especially great if you want to expand your wardrobe without breaking the bank. Whether you want some retail therapy to distract yourself from finals or are looking for fun activities in Pittsburgh over the summer, thrifting is the way to go. Here are my favorite thrift spots in the city!

Avalon Exchange

Squirrel Hill

I love Avalon!! This store has every clothing item you’ll need, from dresses to shorts to graphic tees. I got the most gorgeous boatneck sweater top there last week. You can also donate your clothes!

Sam’s Vintage

Lawrenceville

This boutique labels its clothing items by decade, and it has many colorful, patterned pieces. Fun fact: Chappell Roan shopped here when she last performed in Pittsburgh!

Southside Goodwill

Southside

I know, Goodwill is a national chain, but this location is always a go-to thrift spot for me. I especially enjoy their non-clothing items like mugs, games, and picture frames. I’ve decorated parts of my house with stuff from this Goodwill!

Steal City Vintage

Squirrel Hill

Tucked down a set of steps, Steal City Vintage has that classic, packed racks vibe. They have decent options, especially in jackets and sweaters. I also collect CDs, so I love that they have a well-stocked selection of discs.

Boheme

Lawrenceville

Boheme leans more boutique (prices are on the higher side), but their shop is beautifully decorated. Different vendors have stands where they sell their items, so you can peruse for an area of the store that best suits your aesthetic.

Heat Check

Shadyside

This place mostly stocks oversized “men’s” items like graphic tees and cool jackets, which is a fun way to expand your style if you’re looking for a new silhouette. But they also run a cafe! They have all the classic drink options plus seasonal specials. It’s great to get a latte, then turn around and immediately start thrifting.

Good luck with your next thrift trip!
