Michael Westfall ‘14

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Michael Westfall ‘14

Major: Finance

Minors: Economics and Theatre Arts

Hometown: Erie, PA

Relationship Status: Single

HC: Why did you choose Pitt?

Michael: I knew I wanted to stay in state for college because it meant that I would not have to graduate with a multitude of student loans. I decided specifically on Pitt because I love the arts culture and general feel of Pittsburgh.

HC: What are your plans post-graduation?

MW: I will be a Financial Analyst as part of UPMC’s Financial Management Rotation (FMR) Program when I graduate.

HC: If you could live anywhere, where would you move to and why?

MW: I would live in Chicago! I always have an amazing time when I visit and there are a million things to do in the city.

HC: What do you look for in a partner?

MW: I look for a guy who is intelligent and driven. I need someone who is able to challenge me intellectually and has the aspiration to be successful in life.

HC: What is your ideal date? (Money is not an option, so plan away!)

MW: My ideal date would start with a romantic brunch at a bed and breakfast in the Hamptons. After brunch we would jet up to New York City for some shopping. After an afternoon of shopping we would grab dinner at the Rainbow Room so we could have an amazing dinner while gazing upon the beautiful New York City skyline. And of course no date in New York would be complete without seeing a Broadway show. After the show we would go out dancing until the sun came up.

HC: What’s the best and worst date you’ve ever been on?

MW: The best date I have ever been on was on my birthday. It started with a surprise dinner at the Melting Pot. When we arrived, there were a dozen red roses waiting for me on the table. After dinner we went up to the Mt. Washington overlook where I got my birthday present: a Tiffany’s key necklace. The worst date I have ever been on was dinner at a local dive bar in Erie. The guy’s drunken friends crashed it… needless to say that was the first and last date.

HC: Describe yourself in three words.

MW: I’m a driven hopeless romantic.

HC: What’s your favorite movie?

MW: V for Vendetta

HC: What words of advice do you have for someone looking for a relationship?

MW: Don’t ever settle! You are not doing yourself or the other person any favors by just being comfortable.

HC: What’s your ultimate turn on?

MW: My ultimate turn on would have to be someone who is comfortable in any social situation. Nothing is more attractive than a guy who is able to hold his own at a black tie event as well as fitting right in at a gathering with friends or family.

HC: What turns you off?

MW: My biggest turn off is arrogance. I don’t care what you look like, what you have accomplished, or what socioeconomic background you come from. You are not better than anyone else.

HC: What fraternity are you in?

MW: I am a proud brother of the University of Pittsburgh chapter of Delta Chi.

HC: When did you come out?

MW: I came out when I was 16.
