Want to contribute to Pitt tradition?! Vote for your homecoming king and queen this week, and then go to the game this Saturday at 11 AM to see the crowning of the king and queen that YOU picked! Voting lasts from 12PM Thursday to 12PM Friday, and you can do it right on your my.pitt.edu homepage.

There are A LOT of candidates to choose from this year, so we thought we’d give you a brief introduction to just a few of them to help you prepare to vote. Don’t forget, these are only seven of the many candidates, so keep your eyes peeled around campus for flyers for the rest of them!

Jennifer Schmitz – Gamma Sigma Sigma, Communication & Rhetoric
“I think that I “Jenuinely” deserve to be Pitt’s homecoming queen because of my love for Pitt and my involvement on campus. I can honestly say that this campus and city have become my home and I couldn’t have dreamed of a better college experience. I’m involved on campus through my job as Arrival Survival Coordinator, my internship with CDPA, and as a sister of Gamma Sigma Sigma Service Sorority. I hope to align my campaign with the principles set forth by Alex’s Lemonade Stand – that every bit helps, no matter how small that help may be.”

Olivia Armstrong – Tri Delta, Exercise Science
“I’m running to represent Pitt and be a part of the homecoming tradition. I’ve been involved with Pitt since freshman year with Tri Delta and Pitt Pathfinders and recently with SGB. I think I would be a great candidate. I am raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.”

Danielle Cameron – Panther Field Hockey, English Writing and Communication
“I’m running because I love this University. Pitt has been such a huge part of my life and the activities I’ve become involved with here (Pathfinders, Field Hockey, Relay for Life, SGB) have helped to shape the person I am today. I am just so excited to be a part of this long standing Pitt tradition and I would love to represent the University of Pittsburgh not only for homecoming, but in the community as well. I am promoting the University’s Colleges Against Cancer Chapter as well as Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society’s largest fundraiser.”

Kyle Stelmack – Pitt Pathfinders, Political Science and Economics
“I’m running this year because this University has really given me so much and it would be a true honor to be able to represent it in front of the entire Pitt community. I try to give back to the University as much as I can through organizations such as Pathfinders, and being a part of this great tradition gives me a chance to give back even more within the community.”

Brandon Jackson –Rehabilitation Science Student Organization, Rehab Science
“Hey my name is Brandon Jackson and I am running for homecoming king. As a senior Rehabilitation Science major, I enjoy meeting new people and helping others. I believe I should win because I am the definition of a PITT fanatic. I love everything about this university!”

Nikki Bendick – Students as Healers, Psychology
“I am a senior psychology major and sociology minor. I’m not running with any outside charity platform, as my goal for this campaign is to promote the university and its various clubs and organizations. I do not want to stress what I’ve done for this university, but be an exceptional representative for this great university and student body that has done so much for me. If elected queen, I would love to proudly represent and promote the university at community events and appearances, as well as work alongside Pitt clubs and organizations in their events on campus and in the community.”

Annie Brandt – Theta Phi Alpha, English Literature
“Pitt has always been about family for me. Being born at Magee Hospital and raised by two proud Pitt alumni, I was taught Pitt pride at a very young age. Being at Pitt myself has let me form another Pitt family, one that I could never imagine having before I came here. It has given me so much confidence and pride in each organization I join in to know that we can work to make Pitt an even better place to go for future generations. I could never give back to Pitt everything it has done for me throughout my life, but being Homecoming Queen would give me an opportunity to honor my school while sharing my love and pride for it with the rest of the student body.”

So don’t forget to vote, where these candidates and others will be listed, and then participate in all of the Homecoming activities this weekend. Have a blast collegiettes!
