This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Halloween is all about creativity, and nothing can be shy of leading-edge. If you are looking for some snappy sweets for the holiday, try these easy recipes and be the envy of your hungry peers.

Candy Corn Milkshakes

These festive beverages made to look like pieces of candy corn look adorable in mason jars. Add a straw to make drinking them even more enjoyable.

Ingredients (about 10 milkshakes):

1 Quart Vanilla Ice Cream

1 Quart Orange Sherbet

Whipped Cream/Cool Whip

Yellow Food Coloring

Black, Yellow, and Orange Sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Let vanilla ice cream soften for approximately 25 minutes. Then put 1/3 of the ice cream into a bowl. Add yellow food coloring to the desired shade.
  2. Let the orange sherbet soften while you fill your mason jar 1/3 of the way with the yellow vanilla ice cream. Smooth out the top and wipe the insides of the jar with a paper towel. Place the jar in the freezer for between 5-10 minutes to let it slightly harden.
  3. Fill your mason jar with the orange sherbet so that the jar is now 2/3 full, smooth out the top, and wipe the inside of the jar clean.
  4. Add the final layer of plain vanilla ice cream so that the jar is now full.
  5. Top it off with some whipped cream and sprinkles!

REMEMBER: Anytime you are not using the ice cream or sherbet, keep it in the freezer so it does not melt.

  5. Cool 5 minutes. Stir in frosting until well blended. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the frosting mixture to attach decorations. Use gel food colors to tint remaining frosting in desired colors.
  6. Spoon each color of frosting into re-sealable food-storage plastic bag. Cut 1/2 inch off one corner of bag, and pipe on bottom of 1 cookie.
  7. Press another cookie, flat side down, on frosting at an angle, cookies touching on one side and about 1 inch apart on the other, to look like open mouth.
