Fun Things to do with Friends this Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Valentine’s Day is soon approaching, AKA the holiday where girls walk around with flowers from their significant others and receive cute stuffed animals. However, if you are anything like me, then you are somehow single every year. Previously, I would watch romantic comedies by myself and eat chocolate covered pretzels until I felt considerably full. This year however, my best friend and I decided to dedicate the entire week of Valentine’s day to each other. Grab your best friend(s) and do a few of these fun things this Valentine’s Day together! Because who needs a boyfriend when you have your friends, right?

Make a romantic meal together!

College students are notorious for being busy, meaning we often just fill our bodies with crappy, unhealthy junk foods that we decidedly call a “meal.” Make a cute meal together full of rich reds (like spaghetti), or a homemade heart shaped pizza. It’s guaranteed to be a good time!

Make a bunch of chocolate covered treats

I love strawberries. What’s better is strawberries covered in chocolate. Melt chocolate in your microwave, grab a container of fruit from Market to Go or your nearest grocery store and have a party! It can work with anything from marshmallows to raspberries, but I recommend fruit because then you can feel somewhat healthy while still eating a bunch of chocolate.

Take a dance class together

I love Youtube because it has virtually every kind of video imaginable. I also really love dancing. Build up your confidence, laugh as you try insane moves, and get a good workout in with your friends!

Buy each other flowers

I am so excited because my best friend and I decided to buy each other flowers! No one ever bought me flowers so I can’t wait for my friend to give me a few! Yay!

Binge-Watch movies with a strong female lead

There is nothing like female empowerment to get you through a holiday geared towards couples. Grab that popcorn and your favorite blanket, and watch a few of these movies togehter!

Go see Fifty Shades Darker together

This is something I’m actually looking forward to the most during Valentine’s Day weekend! I’ve been waiting for this movie for an entire year and I am hype. I find this better to watch with your girlfriends anyway, so gather a few friends and order your tickets ahead of time. Fifty Shades Darker hits theaters on February 10th!

You don’t need to hate Valentine’s Day this year if you’re single! Instead, get a few friends together and do one or all of these activities together. Do you have any other fun things you plan to do with your friends? Leave them in the comments!
