Name: Dylan Abbott

Major: English Literature

Hometown: Cannock, UK

Relationship Status: In a Relationship (sorry girls!)

HC: What brought you to Pittsburgh?

DA: My insatiable appetite for fries in sandwiches. And bridges. Also, the opportunity to live and study within a large(ish) city was too good to miss. I’m used to fields, animals, and entire villages which smell of hay – I wanted a change.

HC: What’s your favorite thing about America?

DA: I have three! First, the unwarranted giddy reactions to my accent; being the best dancer at parties; and, finally, the “just do it” attitude (and this is not some subliminal reference to Nike).

HC: What do you miss most about England?

DA: Besides the smell of hay, probably the food… nothing beats a Sunday Roast. Oh, and my girlfriend (of course).

HC: If you could date any celebrity, who would you choose?

DA: I guess the typical answer would be Scarlett Johansson, for obvious reasons… But I’d probably get all nervous and it’d end up being an awful date and I’d wallow in self-pity, convinced I’ll never love again.

HC: What would be your ideal date?

DA: A chilled out music festival for the day. Maybe take a picnic, watch some decent bands.

HC: Have you ever been in a band?

DA: Yes, when I was 16/17. We were going to completely reshape the music industry, but we broke up due to musical differences… I played guitar and occasionally shouted stuff.

HC: What are your plans after graduation?

DA: I want to live in a self-sufficient community for maybe a year or so. Learn to speak French or Spanish or Italian. Travel as much as possible – New Zealand sounds fun. Write for a “cool” magazine. Write at least one novel. Build my own house. Have a mid-life crisis and thoroughly enjoy it. Then maybe settle down somewhere in the Mediterranean and have an affair. Just the usual I guess.

I'm an English Literature student from the University of Exeter, UK, currently studying at Pitt on an exchange programme. Carrie Bradshaw is my idol, despite being a fictional character. Shakespeare reassures me that real love is worth waiting and fighting for, and Dylan Thomas appeases any guilt I feel over a glass of wine.http://hummingstreets.tumblr.com/
