Here I was…walking down the street, wearing zebra patterned shorts, a neon and printed bikini top, and a cut up white t-shirt.  On any other day this would’ve looked a little crazy, but today I was one of the crowd. My friends and I were on our way to Pittsburgh’s Dayglow, otherwise known as “The World’s Largest Paint Party” that tours around various locations such as New York City and Rhode Island.  There was neon and white colored clothing everywhere…and this was just on Bigelow Boulevard, waiting to get to the actual event.

I had never been to Dayglow before, but I had heard that it was an amazing and extremely fun event from friends who’ve been to other tour stops.  When word got out over the summer that Dayglow was coming to Pittsburgh in September, my friends from Pitt and I anxiously waited to order our tickets.  In the days leading up to September 17th, we organized three school buses to take us and 140 other friends to the outdoor Trib Total Media Amphitheater.  As soon as we arrived it was clear that Dayglow would definitely live up to the hype.
The gates opened at 6 p.m. and students found all their friends running around in front of the massive stage.  There were numerous concession stands set up around the perimeter with food and drinks available throughout the night.  Finally, the countdown clock (displayed boldly on the screen above the stage) reached its end and the super-loud house music came blasting from the DJ booth.  Immediately, everyone started dancing and jumping.  The DJ and dancers on stage began shooting paint out into the crowd, along with confetti and extra paint that came sprinkling from the mechanics of the stage. We were immediately covered in thick, neon rainbow paint that turned our white shirts into works of tie-dye art.  This lasted the entire night and everyone kept up his or her enthusiastic dancing and partying. There were so many people there that it was hard not to be jumping alongside someone you knew, and I even spotted a fellow Her Campus writer and correspondent, Mandy Velez, in the crowd!
We got back on the buses around 11:30 p.m after the music stopped, but everyone was screaming about how badly they wanted to go back and do it all again (including myself!). Day Glow was packed with Pitt Students creating unique experience.

“I really enjoyed that Dayglow brought so many of my peers together in one common place…it was like being at one big party with all of your friends.”-Sarah Boorboor, sophomore

“There’s so much to choose from but I’d say…definitely the crowd.  Everyone was so excited to get there and get in.  It was a really cool experience.”-Greg Sobol, sophomore
