Celeb Girl Crushes: We Know You Have Them, Here Are Ours

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

We all have that celebrity girl we all wish we could be for a day. It’s totally okay for girls to have mini girl-crushes on all these flawless celebrities that we look up to. Not even just famous girls, but most of us even wish to step into our best friends’ shoes sometimes too! While the grass is never greener on the other side, it’s still fun to pick out the qualities we admire in other young women like ourselves, and that way we can try to make ourselves acquire those winning characteristics as well. Here’s a list of some of the most admirable women of our generation out there and what we can take away from their personalities as well.

Mila Kunis: “My goal in life is to enjoy what I do, and never to look back and say I wish I would have done that…and to become someone great in life!” I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who couldn’t agree that this Ukrainian is as stunning as she is entertaining. With her versatility in her roles on tv and on the big screen, we can take away from Mila Kunis her willingness to stay true to herself and be happy with the choices you make in life, without regrets. She also encourages others to walk with confidence in your own skin. “Knowing who you are is confidence. Confidence, not cockiness.”

Emma Stone: Now this woman has got to be at the top of my list of favorites. I still cannot get over her ability to take on a role and completely make it her own. Her hysterical personality and incredibly contagious smile makes her one of the most fun to watch actresses of our time. Through good humor and creativity, Emma Stone conveys the message that life is so much happier when you can look at it with a positive outlook and a carefree mind. “Confidence is the only key. I know a lot of people who aren’t traditionally ‘beautiful’ — not symmetrical or perfect-bodied or perfect-skinned. But none of that matters because all that shines through is their confidence, humor and comfort with themselves”… “I can’t think of any better representation of beauty than someone who is unafraid to be herself.”

Beyonce: Do I even have to try and talk up this flawless beauty? It seems anything described about Beyonce would just be an understatement. She’ll be the one still rockin’ it on stage when we’re telling our grandkids stories of her greatness. There’s no telling how else her incredible voice can change the music world, but she’s already done a great deal to improve it. Beyonce’s “fierce” attitude lets people know that she’s gorgeous and she knows it. I think all girls should feel this way! She encourages others to motivate themselves to work hard to get to where you want to be. “We all have our purpose, we all have our strengths.” “As soon as I accomplish one thing, I just set a higher goal. That’s how I’ve gotten to where I am.”

Sofia Vergara: Try not to let your jaw drop too much. Launching her huge fan base from the hilarious comedy TV show Modern Family, fans couldn’t get enough of her loud Colombian accent and jokes along with it. Her desirable lifestyle of having one of the most attractive physiques ever, being super charismatic and having the entire world love her seems like a dream, but she can actually be pretty relatable. Sofia teaches others that despite hardships, it’s important to keep moving forward with a bold confidence. “I’m fearless, I don’t complain. Even when horrible things happen to me, I go on.”

Emma Watson: We’ve seen her progress from just a little kid in Harry Potter into an inspiring woman. She is one of those actresses that really seems down to earth despite the huge fame and fortune. Watson has showed us that people can still be beautiful on the inside and out without having to follow the trends of others. She does things to make herself happy as well as others. She has admitted that she’ll wear the designers that want to get their name out there instead of wearing the top fashionable outfit. It seems she really has a good head on her shoulders and cares about others so much. “It makes me sad to hear girls constantly putting themselves down. We have these unbelievably high expectations of ourselves, when actually we’re human beings and our bodies have a function. We say that the pressure is coming from men but actually it’s from each other. I think women feel so much pressure these days and it can turn us against each other. But we really damage our own confidence when we put ourselves down, so I try not to.”

Blake Lively: Here’s a girl who can teach us a thing or two about relationships. Probably one of the most average-life girls on this list, Blake Lively has only been in four relationships in her 25 years. She sets her priorities high when it comes to dating, as well as being a classy lady. She doesn’t drink or do drugs and has never been that typical party girl. She knows how to hold a steady relationship by keeping truly important people in her life, and wins over her audience with her talented skills on screen. What a girl! “If I’m not with somebody who really excites or inspires me, then I’d rather be by myself.”

Rachel McAdams: Who could forget her tear jerking performance in the timeless film The Notebook? And how about her role as Regina George in Mean Girls that I hear quoted daily? This actress goes for the unforgettable roles, leaving her stamped in our memories. This star is daring as well as versatile. She lets us know that we should go through life making an impact on others and to make that bold move. “I have a certain curiosity for life that drives me and propels me forward.”

Anne Hathaway: Especially growing up watching her as the perfect “princess”, I always thought it would be a dream come true to be in Hathaway’s shoes. Turns out she’s all for self-admiration and setting an example for people to be happy with who they are and to embrace their own special qualities. “When do I feel my best? When I haven`t looked in a mirror for days, and I`m doing things that make me happy” “Whatever you are made of, be the best of that.”

Hi! My name is Amanda and I am one of the new Campus Correspondents for HC Pitt and am absolutely loving it! Helping others with advice about their articles and getting to read amazing stories has been so rewarding. I love writing about topics that make people's days just a little cheerier! Her Campus has been a wonderful experience for me over the past four years. I get to work with an amazing team every day and could not be more grateful. As a senior, looking back from where I started with Her Campus, I see how much it's changed me and all of the great friends I've made from it too. Saying HC is one of the best things that has happened to me during my college career would be an understatement! I really love how much it has grown and how much others have benefitted from their experience with our organization. HCXO <3
