Best Places in Pittsburgh to Grab Food for the Super Bowl

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Super Bowl 52 is on February 4th, at 6:30 pm which means it’s time for fun commercials, parties, alcohol and screaming for teams you probably don’t normally cheer for. I also love the copious amounts of food that come with having a big Super Bowl watch party, like pizza, wings, and yummy chip dip. I’ve compiled a list of the best places to grab all your food items from a pizza the size of a dorm room table to the best wings in Pgh!

King Kong Pizza from Larry and Carol’s

The King Kong Pizza is known as the “largest pizza in Pizza” with its 30” circumference of cheesy goodness. It’s only about $30 and feeds over 20 people…or five people if you’re someone who loves pizza.

Wings from Wings Over

Wings Over is a popular chicken wings spot located a short two miles from Oakland, on East Carson Street in Southside. Their wings are crispy, delicious, and have over 29 different kinds of wings you can choose from! A bonus? They deliver!

Buffalo Chicken Dip from Fuel and Fuddle

I don’t think anyone can have a proper football watch party without Buffalo chicken dip. It’s spicy, it’s creamy, it’s cheesy and all around a snack you’ll keep wanting more of. If you don’t have access to a crockpot, or an oven (at residence halls!), then make sure to pick some up from Oakland’s favorite gastropub before the big night.

Sandwiches from Primanti’s

Super bowl parties are all about finger foods. No one wants to have to worry about utensils. Ergo, sandwiches from Primanti’s! They are messy but juicy, crunchy and delectable! Located right in the heart of Oakland on Forbes, it’s a short walk from anywhere to grab some sandwiches for the party and napkins. Plenty of napkins.

Beer from Mellinger’s

What’s a football watch party without beer? My favorite beer distributor within a mile radius of Oakland, is Mellinger’s. They have a variety of beer ranging from hard cider, pilsners, lagers, and craft beers. The workers are extremely friendly, and they even give you a free bottle opener if you ask! *Remember to drink responsibly! *

The Super Bowl is about to be a fun time, between the Eagles in their first appearance since 2008, the much anticipated commercials and the copious amounts of greasy and yummy food. Tune in on Sunday, February 4th at 6:30 pm and make sure not to wait until last minute to order food!
