Feel like leaving Oakland for a day? Here are seven places that are well worth the trip off campus.
South Side Murals
Wander along East Carson Street in South Side, and you are sure to bump into at least one Instagram worthy mural.
First Fridays on Penn Avenue
East Liberty’s artists and musicians open up their doors to visitors on the first Friday of each month – you never know what you’ll find! Highly recommend checking one of these events out during a warmer month, for you wander all over Penn Avenue.
Wood Street Galleries
These contemporary art galleries are located just above the Wood Street T stop. No cost of admission, and the galleries change up the exhibits frequently.
Mattress Factory
If you love contemporary art, then this is the museum for you. The museum is spread out over several buildings, and holds a variety of art by renowned artists. Can be found in the Central Northside area.
Strawberry Way
Located in Downtown Pittsburgh, this colorful side street is sure to brighten up your day.
Randyland
You’ll be in a world of imagination… if you visit Randyland. This colorful art spot is well worth a trip to Central Northside and is quite a sight to see with one’s own eyes.
Andy Warhol
Wander over to the North Shore to visit my favorite museum in all of Pittsburgh. The Andy Warhol is floor after floor of amazing art work and interactive exhibits. Bonus: If you are a Pitt student, simply bring your ID for FREE admission.
