Her Campus: What do you like best about Pitt?
Adam Sloan: There are so many people here. I come from the suburbs, and seeing the same faces day in and day out every day can get so dull! Here, there’s such an incredible variety of things to do and amazing people to do things with.

HC: What made you decide to come to Pitt?
AS: I visited the campus after getting a scholarship offer and my tour blew me away. It was below freezing, but I figured if I liked it that much in the dead of winter, it’d be even better year round.

HC: What activities/organizations are you involved with around campus?
AS: I’ve been in several different groups in the past three years. I sang in Pitt Men’s Glee Club, DJed for WPTS, joined Pitt Outdoors Club, played on the Ultimate [Frisbee] B-Team, danced at Chicken Swing, played intramural anything I could, and am currently the worship leader for my University Ministry, Cornerstone.

HC: What do you hope to do when you graduate?
AS: I’m on the hunt for a job to start this summer, but first, a friend and I are planning a month-long trek into the Appalachian wilds. We’ve definitely got some prep work to do, but it’s going to be spectacular.

HC: What is your favorite movie?
AS: Shaun of the Dead, hands down.

HC: What do you like to do for fun?
AS: Rock climb, play Frisbee, sing, play music (I play tuba, harmonica, acoustic and bass guitar, and am trying to learn violin, but its rough.) I end up enjoying just about everything I try.

HC: What would be your perfect day?
AS: I’d wake up sometime in the morning and never have to check a clock. I’d make eggs and bacon for breakfast with some Nutella-coated toast. Then I would play some Ultimate Frisbee with friends. We’d play until we were tired and then have a bonfire, where a couple people would have instruments and everyone else would sing and jam along to whatever came out. Depending on how many people were still there, we might play cards or charades or some awesome game that people always say they hate playing but actually have a really good time when they do play. Once the stars came out, we’d stargaze and talk or sigh or sit in silence and fall asleep under the black skies.

HC: What is your favorite type of music? What are your favorite bands?
AS: I’m really big on the indie folk scene right now, but I really like just about everything, it just depends on the day. Some of my favorite artists are Good Old War, Tallest Man on Earth, Regina Spektor, Talib Kweli, The Rural Alberta Advantage, and The Avett Brothers.

HC: What do you look for in a girl?
AS: Fashion sense, confidence, and openness to trying new things. Also, I tend to talk a lot; silence really isn’t my jam, so she’s going to have to keep up.

HC: What are your turn-offs?
AS: Not caring about your appearance. It’s crazy important, I can’t believe how many people pay no attention to what they look like. It’s a shame.

HC: What is your favorite thing to do on a date?
AS: I’m a fan of active dates. Trying new things and stepping out of your collective comfort zone can really bring people together, not to mention it’s usually wicked fun.

HC: What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
AS: Creative, relatable, and excitable.

HC: What is a piece of advice you could offer the ladies?
AS: Don’t try to change anybody. There’s good and bad in everyone, but in a relationship, you love the good and accept the bad. Trying to sweep the bad under the rug doesn’t work, and you can’t force anyone to change. Just be supportive and open for discussion, and maybe the bad will work itself out.
