6 New Spring Trends to Spice Up Your Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Spring has finally arrived! Although it really doesn’t feel like it yet, it’s that time of year when we put away heavy winter jackets and dig out the warm-weather clothes that have probably been gathering dust in the back of your closet all winter. Obviously, wardrobes sometimes need a little face lift, so here are some trendy and new styles to spice up your wardrobe this spring.

1. White Sneakers – You’ve probably seen a ton of Adidas Superstar sneakers around lately since the trendy black and white sneakers are making a comeback from the 1980s. If you want to be different though, white sneakers, and fashion sneakers in general, are super popular right now. Luckily, most good quality sneakers are also super comfortable, so you can dress them up easily and still feel comfy walking around campus.

2. Bucket Bags – These types of handbags are literally perfect for girls who carry a million different things in their purse. They’re usually not structured, which is perfect for throwing in everything you need and going out. The best part is they come in a pretty wide range of sizes and colors depending on your style and how much you carry, making it super easy to find one that fits your lifestyle.

3. Shirt Dress – This is probably one of my favorite new spring fashions; they can be dressed up or dressed down, and they always look cute. The best part is that they’re super comfortable and easy to throw on if you’re looking for something a little nicer. Some styles even have lace inlets or cutouts if you need something a little more formal.

4. Vintage Jeans – The baggy old Levi’s you fished out of your mom’s closet from 20 years ago are finally making a comeback! Few pairs of jeans today are actually made out of real denim, and if you can find a pair that is they’ll probably set you back at least $100. Obviously, if your mom has a super old pair of jeans, you should so take them, but if you’re into thrift shopping or anything similar, you could find a really nice (and really comfortable!) vintage pair for a pretty decent price.

5. Metallics – The #1 rule of any outfit is always all neutral colors with one statement piece, and this spring, metallics are the new statement piece. If the whole idea of metallics seems a little too futuristic/weird for you, try a small accent (i.e. a belt or mini skirt) with another solid color until you figure out what style fits you best.

6. Pinstripes – Personally, I think pinstripes go well with anything in any season, but they’re especially fitting for spring. They come in shirts, dresses, pants, and basically every combination you can think of, plus they’re super easy to throw on with a pair of jeans if you’re in a rush but still want to look nice.
