5 Ways to Refresh Your Apartment

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

As we reach the halfway point in the semester, it’s common to feel like you are in a rut. A great way to get out of this is to make some small changes to your environment or routine. One surefire way to wake up feeling good is to have a space you feel comfortable and happy in. Here are five ways to refresh your apartment, especially if you are on a budget! Adding some small things to your space can help create a calm and comfortable space to relax after a long day.

Flowers

Flowers are a quick and easy way to liven up your apartment! Depending on your flower selection this can have your place filled with new pops of color and lovely scents. I know that when I walk into my apartment and see a flower arrangement, it instantly makes my day! A bonus is that Trader Joe’s always has beautiful and affordable flowers. These are typically sold in small bundles from 3-5 stems for as low as $5.99! Taking some time to stop into the store with friends and create our own arrangements also offers a great friend activity and is very relaxing!

candles

Candles are a perfect way to change the mood in your apartment! My favorite scent is eucalyptus and mint. This candle truly smells like home to me and triggers and instant relaxation when I light it at home. The smells are amazing and they add a decorative, vibey effect to your apartment.

books

WHEN IN DOUBT GRAB A BOOK! Those of you who have read my articles before know that I am book obsessed. I always have a book on me whether its on my kindle app on my phone or a paperback on my desk. Having books around my apartment has single-handedly elevated the vibe of my living space. While they are good decorations, there is also never a new story far from me! Having the ease of grabbing a new book has helped me channel relaxation and enjoy my living space more! It’s also a great excuse to buy a new book everytime you pass Barnes and Noble, regardless of how many others you have lying around your house already!

new decorat]ions

New decorations are also a perfect way to add some new life into your space. These can range from comical tapestries to pretty artificial greenery from amazon! Your space is what you make it so have fun and get creative!

new snacks & Drinks

You would be surprised how happy you are to be in your home when it also comes with good go-to snacks and drinks. My favorites to keep in the house are hot chocolate packets and popcorn. This can make any night into a fun movie night with snacks that are sure to make you happy and relaxed in your own space!
