5 Products to Steal from Your Guy (or Channing Tatum)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

If you’re a fan of Channing Tatum, like every woman should be, you’ll remember his glory days of playing Amanda Bynes’ star-crossed lover in She’s the Man. Although we all wish we could have been his roommate like Amanda was, there are some moments I’m sure we wouldn’t want to share with him. Like when he borrowed her tampons to stop his nose from bleeding.  Yeah, awkward…

But maybe you could steal a few things of his rather than him stealing your tampons, even if you aren’t pretending to be your twin brother like Amanda Bynes was. Whether you’re bunking up with Channing Tatum, or strolling the aisles of CVS, there are a few things we should all steal from our men that will help us from head to toe.

American Crew Hair Wax: The combination of men and hair wax might not be the most appealing.  After all, who likes running their hands through their man’s locks and getting their fingers covered in gunky wax? But not all waxes are the same. American Crew’s Fiber wax is perfect for your man, but more importantly, it’s great for you. I have insanely curly hair, so trust me when I say fly-aways are basically the bane of my existence. Once I tried a bit of Crew’s wax, I was in hair-heaven. The wax is not what I imagined it to be – it’s light and not sticky if you use the right amount, and it helped my hair hold the perfect curl without getting frizzy.  If you have straight or wavy hair and want to try for beachy waves, just take a dime size amount of this, and a with little effort, you’ll be rocking perfect waves.

Hair Trimmers: Okay, to be honest, I would suggest buying this one on your own rather than stealing it from any guy, no matter how put together he might appear.  Any basic nose and ear hair trimmer is the perfect gadget for touching up bikini lines, taking care of peach fuzz above the lip, and can even help out some of your more embarrassing hair mishaps.  You get to skip the pain of waxing, while also saving time and avoiding thick regrowth from shaving.

Barbasol Shaving Cream: You might miss out on the fruity scent of your old shaving cream, but one dollop of Barbasol, and your whole leg will be covered in a creamy, decadent foam. There’s no dripping or running, and since you only need a little bit to cover your whole leg, one can will last you so much longer. Katie Looby, a junior, also explains why she loves Barbasol: “I have sensitive skin, so using a product meant for his face works better for me than the heavily perfumed stuff typically intended for women.” Not to mention that the cream is so thick that you’ll barely feel your razor, but you’ll still have an amazingly smooth shave once you’ve rinsed off.

Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power Razor: This is, by far, my absolute favorite. Switching to the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power Razor has been the best decision of my college career thus far – for my legs anyway. The five-blade combination creates an amazing edge that transforms “shaving into gliding.” The fact that this razor vibrates also adds a unique factor that most razors lack. The vibrations prevent nicks and scratches, which allow you to double your speed while shaving. Caryn Polanski, a sophomore, claims, “It’s meant to not cut his face, so I imagine it’ll do a good job not cutting my leg.”  And she’s right. Since the five blades are optimal for shaving the face, the razor head is incredibly gentle, while still getting the closest possible shave that ordinary women’s razors just don’t get.

Old Spice Deodorant: Typical morning chores might include a shower, brushing your teeth and hair, putting on some mascara, and, most importantly, applying deodorant. Instead of your usual Secret stick, try Old Spice, or any other men’s deodorant or antiperspirant. The strong formula will keep you from sweating all day, including at the gym, with just one application. Old Spice also has a warm, musky, comforting scent that can almost pass as perfume. In my opinion, it smells similar to Victoria’s Secret’s Amber Romance. Kylee Moninger, a sophomore, states, “I actually do use men’s deodorant… Usually during the summer or when I’m working out because women’s deodorant isn’t strong enough for me.” So even though we might like to believe that men sweat a lot more than us, it isn’t a secret that some antiperspirants just aren’t strong enough.  If you’re having this problem, try making the switch – it’ll be worth it!

Now that you know what to steal from your guy, it’s time to get back to daydreaming that he is Channing Tatum. Have fun!
