5 Cheap & Healthy Places to Eat in Oakland

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

So, you’re sick of Market and Perch and don’t have time to cook—or let’s face it, you’re too lazy. We’ve all been there. Luckily, one of the perks of going to school in a city is that there are countless good food options around you! Despite this, it can hard to find one that’s both cheap and healthy. If you’re looking for a nutritious meal that won’t break the bank, check out these five places.

1. Piada

Type of food: wraps, pasta and salad

Price: $8-10

Located conveniently on Forbes Avenue, Piada is a quick and healthy option that’s also delicious.

2. Eat Unique

Type of food: sandwiches, soup and salad

Price: $7-9

Eat Unique is a small café that prides themselves in serving fresh and healthy ingredients.

3. Roots

Type of food: rice and salad bowls

Price: $9-11

Roots recently opened a location on campus, bringing us natural bowls that you top with your choice of proteins and veggies.

4. Love Yogurt

Type of food: ramen and frozen yogurt

Price: $6-8

At Love Yogurt, which used to be called Love Ramen, you can load up your ramen with veggies, meat, egg and/or spices for super cheap.

5. Hello Bistro

Type of food: salad and burgers

Price: $9-11

Hello Bistro is my personal go-to place for a delicious salad that’s not too pricey.
