3 Highly Anticipated Films from the 2022 Venice Film Festival

As many know, the 79th Venice Film Festival has come to an end. This year’s festival ran from August 1st to September 10th. A few of this fall’s most anticipated films, Don’t Worry Darling, Bones and All, and Blonde, were screened.

Don’t Worry Darling

Don’t Worry Darling is a psychological thriller directed by Olivia Wilde, starring Florence Pugh as Alice and Harry Styles as Jack. It tells the story of Alice, a housewife who is married to Jack and living in 1950s California. Jack and Alice live in an experimental community called Victory, a company town run by the Victory Project for whom Jack works. Alice begins to worry that the company is hiding some dark secrets but is conflicted about questioning it or not because the people of the community are encouraged to keep everything about Victory a secret. Don’t Worry Darling is to be released in theaters later this month on September 23rd. 

Bones and All

Bones and All is the story of a first love, set in Reagan-era America, between cannibals Maren, played by Taylor Russell, and Lee, who is played by Timothée Chalamet. They go on a cross-country road trip where they figure out some personal issues. The film is categorized as coming-of-age and horror. It is directed by Luca Guadagnino, who also directed Call Me By Your Name, in which Timothée Chalamet also starred. Bones and All will be released in theaters on November 23rd, 2022.

Blonde

Blonde is a fictionalized story of Marilyn Monroe’s life. It is based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates, directed by Andrew Dominik, and stars Ana de Armas. The film spans her childhood through her Hollywood stardom. Blonde will debut on Netflix on September 28th.
