LET’S COOK IN OUR DORMS!!!
Here are some simple foods to make in your dorm. If you’ve read my blogs and some of my snapshots, you’ll realize I have a love for food. Food is great, but it isn’t just about food. I myself don’t like cooking for just me – it becomes too boring. I’ve held several dinner parties and made dinner each time. Here are some simple to complex recipes you can try.
Fried Ramen
Are you tired of getting your ramen in soup form? Well than spice it up a little. Once you let it cook and soak in the water, place it on a pan and let it fry. Put some soy sauce and add some seasoning. I like adding lime to give it more flavor. You can also add veggie too!
Egg Soup Ramen
Egg soup ramen is the same as making regular ramen, except you add egg into it. You need to cook the ramen first and then in a separate bowl, crack the egg(s) and whisk it. Once the egg(s) are whisked and the ramen is cooked, pour the egg in slowly. Whisk the eggs around and let it cook for about 3-5 more minutes. You made egg ramen soup.
Honey Chicken Lemon
This is definitely my favorite dish. For this recipe, you’ll need chicken legs, olive oil, lemon (3), honey, salt, sugar, and of course, a trusty pan. First, place olive oil in the pan and once it’s been heated up, put in the chicken. Let the chicken cook for about 5 mins. Make sure you keep an eye on the chicken and keep flipping it to keep it from burning. Next, cut the lemon into halves, and use one side for the juice. Start adding salt to each piece of chicken followed by some squeezed lemon juice. With the other half of the lemon, cut it into narrow slices to be placed all over the chicken for added taste. Let it cook for a few more minutes and then add in the sugar atop each piece of chicken. Once again, and I cannot emphasize enough, keep an eye on the chicken. Make sure all the blood is coming out. Once you are done cooking the chicken, if needed, add more salt, lemon juice, or sugar. For the final step, add in the honey (do this at the end to ensure the chicken does not burn in the cooking process) and bon appetit!
Coconut Rice
Coconut rice is very simple to make with a rice cooker. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to make it on stove. For the rice cooker version, you’ll need coconut milk (can), white rice (washed), olive oil, water, salt and 2 cups of rice. First, wash and rinse the rice a couple times in order to remove the preserving chemicals. Once the rice is washed thoroughly, add one cup of water. After adding the water, you need to add one cup of coconut milk. Make sure you put in a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of olive oil. And without the further ado, let the rice cooker do the rest of the work.
