Easter is such a beautiful holiday for many reason. First and foremost, it is a significantly important day on the Christian calendar; it’s pretty amazing to think that Jesus resurrected in order to save us. Amidst the bunnies and the egg hunts, don’t forget to thank Him for that! But after you do so, Easter is also a time of celebration. Typically, I spend Easter Sunday with my family. Unfortunately, though, as a university student living far from home, this isn’t always possible. However, the positive aspect to this is that there is time to explore what our options are on an atypical Easter Sunday. After all, these types of “firsts” often make for the best stories.

1. Visit Disneyland!

I know you have been looking for an excuse to do so, and what better day than a holiday? Sure, there may be a few crowds, but there will also be various special Easter events that you will not find throughout the entire year. You will also have the rare Roger Rabbit photo-op, as this is the one day of the year when he comes out to meet park visitors. Besides, all of the other Disney rabbits show up, too… You’ll have great Insta-worthy photos by the end of the day, but don’t forget to put your phone away while you’re there and enjoy your time in the happiest place on earth!

2. If you’re feeling like splurging, you may consider visiting the Queen Mary for an elegant brunch.

The brunch and activities aboard this prominent ship will take place between 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. This champagne brunch will consist of an Easter egg hunt, a petting zoo, and a variety of gourmet foods. Don’t forget to wear your favorite spring dress for this one.

3. An alternative brunch and shopping day!

Do you want something different to do than the typical Easter Sunday routine? Why not visit the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills for brunch? This option is a little on the expensive side, but it is certainly glamorous and fun! The Tres restaurant at the SLS has an extensive menu that will leave you anxious for your next visit. It’s not too far from The Grove, so make a day of it with some friends and hit up some shops post-brunch. The Grove will also have an Easter egg hunt you will want to participate in. Here is how it works: for five consecutive days leading up to Easter Sunday, there will be a single hidden egg throughout the shopping center, and each day, the hidden egg will have a different $100 gift card to one of the shops or restaurants located there. You will feel like a kid again, and also may get a prize you actually want… It’s a win-win!

4. Have a picnic on the beach!

Gather up a bigger group of friends and enjoy a nice day out in the sun! Malibu’s beaches are beautiful, so might as well enjoy them any chance you get! Don’t forget to ask one of those friends to take a camera (I mean a real camera, not your phone), and you can have a fun photoshoot while you are there, too.

5. Host an Easter/Spring Brunch Party!

Ask your friends to each bring something, buy a bouquet of flowers at the Malibu Farmers Market, and wear your favorite pastel-colored outfit. This is an opportunity to go into full Pinterest mode, and that is always a great thing.

Regardless of what you do, remember to have fun and to acknowledge what is truly important about this day! Happy Easter!
