Empowerment. It’s a phrase that is often used by many of my friends, colleagues, and people’s conversations I happen to overhear. But what does this word mean when it’s so overused and under-practiced.

Empowerment is defined as to give power or authority to; authorize, especially by legal or official means.

Why can’t women empower other women? They talk about it, but they don’t actually practice it. I hope that a day will come where women won’t be catty to one another, will accept one another regardless of their faults.

I hope for a world where talk isn’t cheap, and women start seeking the encouragement and support of other fellow women.

As International Women’s day has come and recognition to the day has grown, I hope this shows all of us how much we want to accept working together as women. But we also have a long way to go.
