8 of the Best Quotes from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pepperdine chapter.

I don’t know about you, but I was highly skeptical of this High School Musical spinoff. However, I ended up really enjoying it. The fictional show is about the kids at East High in Salt Lake City, the school where the original movies were filmed, putting on a production of High School Musical: The Musical — it’s very meta.

Below are 8 of the best quotes from Season 1, in order of appearance:

“So I say to my mom, looking this fabulous while also fighting for intersectional feminism is my summer job”

—Kourtney, Episode 1

“Don’t underestimate me, I come from strong stock. My mother bounced back from an autopsy”

—Miss Jenn, Episode 2

“Dating her doesn’t mean you own her”

—Ashlyn, Episode 2

“Tornadoes come and go, dance is forever”

—Carlos, Episode 3

“My job, in a nutshell, is to put these kids on airplane mode so they can fly”

—Miss Jenn, Episode 3

“Ever since you discovered boys you’ve spent way too much time trying to see yourself through their eyes”

—Kourtney, Episode 5

“The only thing I’d ever throw at your face is a brighter spotlight ‘cause I like the way you sing”

—Big Red, Episode 7

“I don’t need some great romance to be complete, or whatever”

—Ashlyn, Episode 9

This is my senior year of college and I'm a Public Relations major with a Creative Writing outside concentration. I was born and raised in So-Cal and love it so much I couldn't go too far. As much as South California is my home, I adore traveling and learning about other cultures. A Disney fan to the core you can find me watching any of their movies, or breaking my bank account at Disneyland, and if not I'll probably be reading, writing, or enjoying the Malibu climate.
