My Guide to Surviving Finals Season

This fall 2025 semester has come to an end and finals are approaching for students, as well as preparation to study for what will be on the test. Each semester, such as Fall and Spring, comes a time for finals week when every student is studying for every class that they took to wrap up. It comes time to prioritize scheduling, like when to study for each exam in different courses. How could students survive during the finals season? There are guides on ways to survive in winter finals and post-final exams.

          Schedule a time to study

Creating a schedule for when to study is the key to earning an A, like reviewing what students have learned from the beginning of the semester and jotting down notes to remember what they learned. Furthermore, starting early is one of the best ways to study for terms that will be on the exam. If it is not an exam, but a final paper and assignments,  make sure to add them to the calendar as a reminder. While focusing on studying and writing papers for finals, it is important to minimize the time of getting distracted from using devices. However,  listening to music, especially classical, could increase students’ focus on one thing at a time.

Another important point when scheduling time to study is also scheduling when to take a break without overstudying.

Sleep schedule

Sleeping seven to eight hours per night helps to reset the brain, as well as being a time to recharge after studying for too long. Before falling asleep, listening to calming music can be the key to unwinding and using your imagination, like being in the ocean and being surrounded by it, for example. Sleep meditation is the most important to use because you can fall into a deep sleep without any stress and anxiety that can interfere in the evening.

Location to study

Looking for a place to study and write papers could be a challenge for most people. Although each coffee shop could be useful, find one that would minimize noise. If the voice volume gets higher than expected, AirPods or noise-cancellation headphones could help because of not listening to conversation noise as a background.

The library is also one good study place because it is usually quiet, including being a “quiet study,” which helps concentration without distractions.

Getting Help

Tutors are there for students who need help with final papers that need to be reviewed before the deadline date or a subject that needs to be looked over before the exam. For math exams that you need help reviewing , they’re here for you, and the same goes even if you’re reviewing a foreign language too.

Overall, these lists are my way to survive in the finals season. Even though students may dread it, finals week arrives at the end of each semester, Fall and Spring, when they dedicate themselves to studying for all of their classes.  Overall, what should be taken away is that finals are not the end of the world; every subject reflects what students have learned from the beginning of the semester all the way to the end of the fall semester.

To the students reading this, I wish you the best of luck on your finals and happy holidays!
