Miss Americana & the Football Prince: Everything You Need to Know About the Rumored Couple

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pace chapter.

There have been rumors circulating about Taylor Swift “hanging out” with Travis Kelce and honey, most of them are true. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end attended the Eras Tour back in July when Swift came to Arrowhead Stadium. Like the other Swifties attending the show, Kelce also made a friendship bracelet, but he had his phone number on it and he didn’t want to trade it with other fans — he wanted to give it to the singer herself.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings, so I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” Kelce said on the New Heights podcast that he does with his brother, Jason Kelce.

Kelce may have fumbled back in July, but this past Sunday, he scored big. Recently, Kelce invited Swift to Arrowhead Stadium saying, “I threw the ball in her court and told her, ‘I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead. You might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit.” Kelce got his wish. Swift was seen sitting in Kelce’s suite with his mom, Donna Kelce, when the Chiefs played the Chicago Bears on Sept. 24. To make this game even more perfect for Kelce, he scored a touchdown right in front of Swift, to which her response was “Let’s f***ing go!”

Some of Kelce’s teammates were asked about his touchdown in regards to Swift’s attendance, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes. “I knew she [Taylor Swift] was in the house…. so I knew I had to get the ball to Travis.” In the press conference following the game, Mahomes went on to say, “She’s [Taylor Swift] tremendous at everything she does. I haven’t got to meet her, but if she ends up with Travis, I’ll probably get to meet her.”

The two-time Super Bowl champion and the 12-time Grammy Award winner were seen leaving Arrowhead Stadium together after the game Sunday night. While there still isn’t any confirmation on the couple, I’m fully invested to see where this goes. My younger sister is a Chiefs fan, so I’m very familiar with Travis Kelce, and when looking at all the pictures and videos from today, I couldn’t help but giggle at my phone screen. It felt like I was watching a rom-com unfold.

Despite the outcome of this, I think one thing that we can all take away from this is to never give up. Kelce started off with a friendship bracelet and a dream, and now his crush is sitting in his suite, hanging out with his mom. That’s how it works, Travis, that’s how you get the girl.
