After hearing this news, I’ve been blasting “Ring the Alarm” nonstop, it’s gotten to the point that my ears are probably going to bleed. On Nov. 17, it was announced that the theme of the 2026 Met Gala is “Costume Art.” This theme will explore the connection between clothing and the human body. From this, it’ll emphasize the theme “fashion is art.” Just hearing about this theme, I know for a fact that the carpet will be stunning. Hopefully most of the celebrities will stick to the theme as well, cause sometimes one just has to be different.
Additionally, some even bigger news about the Met Gala was recently announced. On Dec. 10, Vogue announced that the co-chairs will be Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour. From the title of this article, I am happy that Kidman and Williams are co-chairs, but the one I’m most excited about is Beyoncé for three main reasons. One, because she is a fashion icon, and I know for a fact that she will eat this theme down. Two, it has been almost a decade since she last went to the Met Gala. Insane to think about. The last time she was on the carpet was in 2016. Third, this could indicate the tease of her Act III album.
For those who don’t know, Beyoncé’s return to music isn’t just one album and done. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she had been working on these three-act albums to foster cultural appreciation, each album exploring a different genre of music. In her first act, Renaissance—the most iconic album to this day—she set the stage by expressing Black Queer culture through dance/pop music. In her previous album, Cowboy Carter – which deserved the Album of the Year win, no arguments – she emphasized the foundational role of Black artists in country music. Now, many fans, including myself, have been speculating that her third album will focus on rock. From her recent Instagram posts, fans have been thinking that since she’s wearing leather, it could connect to the themes of rock.
Personally, I’m very excited to see if she’ll tease her third album (and tour, who knows). Although I’m more excited to see what she’s going to wear for the Met Gala, maybe she’ll have more than one outfit throughout the night. The possibilities are endless, but best believe I will be watching the livestream and buying my ticket for her Act III tour.
