It’s sad and emotional to say that we are now entering the last level of Jumanji before it is game over. On July 28, we finally got the first trailer of Jumanji: Open World and I have to say, this movie looks like it’s going to be amazing just like the other ones. For months we have been getting updates from the cast with posts on their social media regarding the filming of the movie, and after seeing this trailer, I think it was worth the wait. With this trailer, we also got an official release date for the movie: Christmas Day 2026.

It’s crazy to think that after this movie comes out, there will be no more Jumanji movies to go see during Christmas time. But, then again, with all of the sequels and revivals coming out, there could be more Jumanji in the future, especially since these past two movies and this one coming up are continuations of the original Jumanji movie. I am not going to get sad about the end of this series just yet, as I am very excited about this movie and the updates we are receiving before it gets released.

One thing is for sure: the Jumanji movies seem to get bigger, more joyful, and funnier as each one comes out. This trailer did succeed in all of those things and most definitely did not disappoint. To catch everyone up, in Jumanji: The Next Level, they gave the audience a sneak peek about what to expect in Jumanji: Open World during the end credits scene. It showed Spencer’s mom going into the basement with an electrician so that he could fix the electricity in the house. They see the Jumanji game and decide to touch it, and it isn’t clear how they did it exactly, but messing around with it leads them to bring the world of Jumanji into the real world.

In the Jumanji: Open World trailer, it shows that Spencer, Bethany, Fridge, and Martha are now discovering that the animals from Jumanji are out and about. They then rush back to the restaurant from the last movie only to find that their characters are now in the real world as well. Throughout the trailer, it shows how the gang is going to have to control all of the characters so they don’t cause any harm in their world, but that’s easier said than done. Things get worse as they try to get them back in the game, when only Spencer goes into the game as Ruby Roundhouse, along with his mom, who is now Dr. Smolder Bravestone, a cook from the restaurant that becomes Professor Shelly Oberon, and a little boy who transforms into Mouse Finbar. With all that, we know this is going to be the most wild adventure in this franchise.

With all of the craziness that happened in the trailer, I know this is going to be a great movie. It’s an amazing idea to have the game come into our world and cause such chaos. It’s nice to see how the actual characters in the game would act and talk since they aren’t being controlled by someone that is in their bodies and the way that they act on their own suits each character very well. Let’s not forget about all of the jokes that were in this trailer. This franchise never fails when it comes to comedy and they seem to get funnier each time a new movie comes out. This trailer did an excellent job showing what to expect in this movie without giving big spoilers so that everyone can be entertained, surprised, and come up with ideas about what they are planning with this movie.

As much as it is exciting to get our first look of the movie, it’s also bittersweet because it was announced that this will be the last movie of the franchise. I remember when the first movie from this trilogy came out, I was so interested and made sure my parents got tickets on Christmas Day to go see it. To think that it’s been a whole decade since this trilogy started gets me very emotional because of how amazing each movie was. The franchise never fails to disappoint and I don’t want it to end ever. It saddens me that it won’t be a tradition to go see Jumanji on Christmas Day with my family anymore. I am wondering how exactly they are going to end this trilogy since the gang are now out of high school and are going to school, working, and just living their lives as they get older. I wonder if they are ending this trilogy, but still going to produce more within the Jumanji universe in the future since sequels and reboots are coming out like crazy nowadays. But, I know for sure, Jumanji: Open World will end on a good note since this franchise has been very successful.

So, here we are, getting one last Jumanji movie after six years of waiting. It’s crazy to think that it will be game over once this movie is released. It’s a celebration yet a farewell to a beloved franchise. A lot of people grew up with these movies and I’m glad that I get to be a part of this group. I think what makes this movie very special is that it’s a continuation from the original 1995 Jumanji movie with Robin Williams as well. It works very well with how Jumanji went from a board game to a modern video game and it improves as the game gets new updates with each movie, like a typical game. Not to mention, people rarely hate on this movie, so I think this trilogy is memorable and nostalgic since people love it so much. I know that this last movie will be fantastic and will be filled with so many emotions as we say our final goodbye to Jumanji. For now, we wait for more content, updates, and prepare for the final level of Jumanji to begin.
