I’ve wanted to see the movie Queen and Slim since I first saw the trailer. Before even going to see the movie, I could just tell from the trailer that I would love it.

On Tuesday I took advantage of the discounted ticket prices and went to view the film. Every second of the movie was captivating and kept my interest which is sometimes hard to do. The storyline was extremely interesting from start to finish and executed by amazing actors. Personally, I feel the acting was phenomenal amongst all characters. The film starred Daniel Kaluuya, who played Slim and is well known for his role in Get Out; as well as Jodie Turner Smith who played the role of Queen. The dynamic between these two characters is alluring and changes throughout the film.

My favorite character was Queen, as I related to the strong female role she played in the movie and live vicariously through her. She proudly displayed her courage, resilience and emotional vulnerability during the film. I truly enjoyed how the film portrayed the perfect balance between love and action. This film also touches on issues with excessive police force today while incorporating elements of fiction to keep the audience entertained and on their toes.

I loved the movie so much it brought me to tears, that’s how great it was! If you have yet to see it I definitely encourage you to check it out. Queen and Slim is an extremely powerful film and I 10/10 would recommend you go watch it.
