It’s that time of year when skin starts drying out as winter approaches, and the weather gets colder. For those of you who struggle with dry skin like I do, a nighttime routine is crucial to keep your skin smooth. Whether it’s a simple routine or a more detailed one, just moisturizer can do the trick. As someone who loves skincare products, I like to use multiple products to keep my skin healthy. If I feel that my face is clearer, I try to use less makeup products that increase my chances of breaking out. Everyone’s skin is different, but here are the products I love to include in my nighttime routine to reach my personal skin goals.

1. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

To start off a great nighttime routine, a cleanser is a must. This wipes off all the dirt and oil that is built up on your face during the day, that keeps your skin baby smooth. I’ve personally tried multiple cleansers, and I have to admit this is one of my favorites. What’s great about this cleanser is that it’s for all skin types, and really keeps your skin smooth. I already feel like my face is much cleaner after using this cleanser. It’s also on the less expensive side of skincare products that work really well.

2. Laneige Essential Power Skin Toner for Normal to Dry Skin

Although a toner isn’t the most important part of a nighttime routine, it still helps sink in the products used after cleansing your face. Laneige is a great South Korean brand that’s available in Sephora, and I love how this product feels on my skin. Used with a cotton pad, it tightens up your pores and wipes off the dead skin cells. If you can’t handle strong perfume smells though, this toner may not be for you.

3.  First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration

My skin type is towards the dry side, and it gets especially dry during the winter. This moisturizer is a lifesaver, because it keeps my skin so smooth even when the temperature drops. It absorbs nicely into the skin and doesn’t make it feel sticky. I love how lightweight it feels, and the scent may not be for everyone but I got used to it pretty quickly. (TIP: Pat the lotion into your skin instead of rubbing it in to prevent wrinkles.)

4. Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

As a college student, I think this is my favorite product because of the bags and dark circles under my eyes when I don’t get enough sleep. Not only is it great for dry skin, but it brightens up your eyes as well. A little goes a long way, and I believe this is worth the price. I usually apply this in the morning but putting it on at night can be a long-term benefit.

5. Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil

This is the first face oil I’ve tried, and I just love the results it produces after applying it every night. I get scared of breaking out, especially when the stress in college gets too much. Although this is on the more expensive side, I think it really decreases the chances of me breaking out. I recommend this product for people who deal with heavier acne problems, because it is quite pricey. Also, a little goes a long way. I usually apply three drops and gently pat it on my skin to let it absorb. I do feel the texture of my skin improved after using this product.

6. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

Sometimes, you just can’t avoid those pimples that pop out of nowhere but this drying lotion is a lifesaver. You just dip a cotton swab into the bottle, and dab it directly where needed. Every time I’ve used this product, it has either popped the pimple or reduced the redness the next morning. Also, if you’re someone who moves a lot in their sleep, don’t worry because this product dries pretty quickly. Just make sure to wash off the excess in the morning.

7. Aquaphor Lip Repair

Lips get pretty dry during the winter, and I think this product is my favorite to use for my lips. After using it for awhile, my lips aren’t as dried as it used to be. It’s also great for cracked lips and heals pretty quickly. I like applying this at night and waking up with smooth lips.

Disclaimer: These products are not for everyone as skin types vary for each individual. I’m not an expert on skincare, but I do recommend you test out different products before you stick to a specific routine.
