Education is important. But there is so much more to be educated in than math, history, and science. We learn a lot in school from our times tables, to the presidents of the United States, but we don’t have classes on our mental health. Self love, self worth, and self compassion are so important for people to learn, and should be taught at a young age. Kids go through their most awkward times during middle school and high school, and if their was a class to teach them they aren’t alone, maybe everyone would love themselves a little more.

I haven’t always been fully happy in the body that I was born in, and I have watched myself go through some drastic changes in the past few years. But at the end of the day, my weight or the way that I look doesn’t define me. I have grown to love and accept myself, and the person I am today, but it does not happen overnight. There are multiple people in my life who I have watched struggle with finding themselves, and just being happy with who they are. And this can take a major toll on a person.

It is so important to be you. There is no one else like you. Accept your weird and quirky flaws, because they are beautiful. Everyone is unique, so stop trying to be like someone else. Love the curves and imperfections in your body. Happiness is the key to a healthy life. In the wise words of RuPaul, “If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?” And this is so true, it all starts with you.

It is important to know your worth, have unconditional love for yourself, and grow from the person you used to be. Self love is so much more than being “conceited.” It is growing from the ground up, and accepting the person you are today. Love yourself, admit to failures, and stop letting negativity get in your way. Self love is crucial, because you are with you for the rest of your life.
