At Oxy, Toga has become a sort of contest on how to wear the least amount of fabric in the most creative way possible. So here are some tips on how to execute this successfully, and not look like a hot mess the entire night.
- Don’t use the sheets you actually sleep on. You probably won’t want to put them back on your bed when you get back. Plus they might get dirty or lost. It is easier to just use fabric that you can throw away or reuse for next year.
- On that note, go to JoAnns to purchase fabric early. You will want to have the best selection available so you stand out. The more elaborate the better. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny on fabric if you want to be the best dressed out there.
- Wear a bra and boyshorts/spankies. PLEASE. Just do it.
- Wearing a bandeau over your strapless bra is a wonderful way to keep yourself covered, and can come in handy if you decide to make a toga that shows your stomach.
- Use accessories to keep your toga in shape. A little gold ribbon around the waist will help your toga from falling apart and keep you in the greek spirit.
- Safety pins will be your best friend. Use tons and tons of them. Pin a couple extra in case you need them later on in the night. If you do need them later, ask a sober friend to help you.
- Test your toga out a little bit before heading out for the night. Move around and maybe jump a little to make sure it can hold up.
Have fun and remember to be safe!Â
