Falling Into Oxford

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oxford Emory chapter.

You can smell the pumpkin-spice in the air, see the sweatshirts coming out. Don’t be disheartened by the 80 degree weather; fall is just around the corner, and there is plenty to be excited about.

1.Lil’s Thanksgiving food

We may have a love/hate relationship with Lil’s food during the rest of the year, but sophomores will remember the glorious Thanksgiving lunch. Mac and cheese bar, pumpkin pie, apple cider, and turkey for vegans and meat-eaters alike.

2. Pumpkin patches

You may object to Georgia’s weather, but no one can complain for a lack of pumpkin patches. There are plenty of local farms that let you pick out your own pumpkin child. Pumpkin carving and profile-pic worthy photos included.

3. Halloween

Whether you choose to dress up and go to a party in Atlanta or stay in with your friends and watch scary movies, Halloween is a great excuse to have a fun time and eat lots of candy.

4. Art, music, and drama, oh my!

As the days get colder, work in the arts becomes finalized for everyone to see. This weekend you can see the play J.B., and keep an eye out for performances ranging from dance to chorale in later Fall.

5. Festivals and Parades

Whether its special events for the holidays or local vendors selling hand-knit scarves and seasonal veggies, fall is the perfect time to spend time outside with chunky sweaters in tow.

Jordan Chapman is a visual art and international studies major with a French minor at Emory University. As a second year student, she's incredibly busy, but when you add jetsetting and writing a blog (in addition to a Youtube channel), her life is more busy than you may think. When she isn't watching Stranger Things or writing blog posts, she's in class or sending emails, with the dream of being the next big editor or fashion blogger. As a future London expat and wanderlust victim, she visits the land across the pond quite frequently along with many other places in Europe frequently, just hoping that life will take her somewhere fun and exciting.
