Get used to hearing Rebecca Witkin’s name. The junior political science major is the Student Association president for next year.
On what made her decide to run for president, Rebecca said, “I’ve been very involved atOswego. I wanted to see things get done.”
Running for president is no easy task. The candidates are very busy and have added stress. Rebecca had to participate in three debates and got to “meet cool people.” To get herself to be known by the Oswego students, Rebecca made posters, which could be seen all over campus, talked to 80 organizations and talked to anyone she could find, even people on the elevator.
“As president, I would like to work on Student Activity space, the University Police-Student relationship, accessible communication between SA, student organizations, and the student body and I want to create a general student activity calendar,” said Rebecca on her plans of what to do during her presidency. “Those are just some of the many projects on my to-do list.”
During her downtime, Rebecca likes to go snowboarding and skiing and has participated in martial arts for 13 years. Like most college students, she also likes to just hang out with friends.
After getting the call about winning the SA presidential election, Rebecca was extremely happy. “I literally jumped up and down and screamed.”
When she graduates, Rebecca is not completely sure what she would like to do, though she would like to work for an international organization or a non-governmental organization.
