My Hopes for Summer 2022

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oswego chapter.

After three crazy years with classes being overloaded, transferring schools, and a global pandemic, I am excited to graduate and have my first free summer in years. As a kid, I always spent summers camping, reading, taking adventures, or sleeping in, but with summer classes and being stuck inside for quarantine, I feel like I haven’t had a truly fulfilling summer since before attending college.

For myself and others, I feel like this first summer after college graduation is going to change so many of us. Every day I hear how hopeful people are to travel, visit their significant others for more than a week break, to see their family, to find themselves, etc. Many of us on social media are hopeful in thinking that this summer will be like the summer of 2016 when musical artists are releasing catchy songs, new trends are created, and everyone is just trying to be positive.

After graduation, I will have a full-time job, but I am still hopeful for my hours after work and my weekends. This summer, I hope to start reading books for fun again and catching up on all of the bestsellers that I’ve had to only listen about on #Booktok. I also will be living in a new city, so I hope to explore new cafes, museums, restaurants, and more! I also hope to volunteer at a local food pantry or opportunity center in order to give back to my community and make some friends. Everything will come down to how I manage my time, but I think I’ll be able to make this summer worthwhile.

It’s all going to feel like a new chapter in my life, and I’m excited to write the story.

If you haven’t read it yet, I wrote an article describing why you should create a summer bucket list. If you are in need of ideas or inspiration, check it out :)
