Halloween Activities Around Oswego

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oswego chapter.

Halloween is just around the corner, which means spooky events and fun activities have already begun. Oswego offers a variety of events for the community, including students, to attend. While we wait for Halloween to officially arrive, here are some activities you can do with your friends in the meantime.

Halloween at the Y

What: Enjoy a spooky maze in the basement of the Oswego YMCA Armory. The maze will be completed in absolute darkness, and participants must walk through several haunted rooms in order to complete the maze. Beware, creepy things grow out of the darkness; once you start the maze, there is no going back.

When: Friday, Oct. 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: 265 W. 1st St.

Price: One non-perishable food item or $1

Zombie Crawl

What: Walk with the undead in Oswego’s third-annual Zombie Crawl. Dress up like your favorite undead character and crawl down Bridge Street. The event will end at Greene Ale’s House where there will be a showing of “Zombieland,” “Revenge of the Killer Tomatoes,” and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

When: Friday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m.

Where: In front of Oswego YMCA Armory, 265 W. 1st St.

Price: Free

Trail of Terror

What: This trail of terror features a pitch-black maze through a morgue offered indoors and a spooky outdoor trail. Beware, there may be appearances from Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and other terrifying creatures when you least expect it.

When: Fridays and Saturdays until Nov. 1, with a special opening on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Where: 475 Clifford Rd., Fulton, N.Y. 13069

Price: $3 admission, $10 for trail, $10 for haunted house, $17 for both attractions

Screamer’s Hollow

What: The Halloween Haunt Fest presents its fifth season of spooky attractions at the Sterling Renaissance Festival grounds. Four attractions will be presented: Village of the Damned, Terror Town Tours Haunted Hayride, a Slaughterhouse Asylum-themed maze and Spirits of the Boggs Haunted Trail.

When: Fridays and Saturdays until Oct. 26 from 7 p.m. to midnight

Where: 15385 Farden Rd., Sterling, N.Y., 13156

Price: $19.95 for hayride and Village of the Damned, $27.95 for three attractions and $34.95 for all four attractions.

These activities are just a taste of what Oswego, and neighboring towns, have to offer in the spirit of Halloween. Gather your friends and spend some time making your way through pitch-black mazes and spooky trails!
